So we are still new to daycare, 2.5 months in. We had a *rough* start but I feel like LO is finally starting to settle in (knock wood). I'm generally pretty happy with her daycare at the current moment-- her basic needs seem to be met and she looks happier in the photos we receive and when I pick her up. She is 22 mo and doesn't talk well yet so she can't really tell me anything about her day or if she is happy.
Really the one thing that I am still not super thrilled about is the lack of communication with her teachers. She has one teacher that is with her all morning and another that is there after nap. We pick her up 1-2 hours after her nap so her afternoon teacher isn't with her for nearly as long as her morning teacher. At pickup I always ask how her day was and the teacher generally says "it was good!" with no elaboration.
Is this pretty much the norm? I guess I thought daycare teachers would be a little bit more.... chatty? Like oh LO did a funny thing today, or she's great friends with x kid, or we are struggling with x thing.
I mean, it's FINE... I mean she seems happy enough and this isn't a big enough deal to make a thing of. I guess I was just surprised because I assumed that the people spending 40 hours/week with my kid would have more to say than "she's good!" But I don't know if that is just how all daycares are, or ours is weird.
