DH just gave R a bottle, and she ate 2 ozs in like 5 mins. She is still hungry so I am feeding her more.
How much did you month old eat? Wondering how much I need to start making bottles for. I don't want to waste any.

On avg, about 3 oz, but it can vary... Sometimes he'll want a little more sometimes less.

Formula or breast milk? At a month she was eating 2oz of formula every 2-3 hours. Breast milk is less filling, so I imagine she'd want more.

@photojane: breastmilk. She ate for 11 mins and I took her off cause of her reflux. But she was still hungry so I had to put her back on. I don't think she has ever eaten this much.

My son was a ravenous beast and was taking 4-5 ounces I think.
He's a fattie..

@chopsuey119: well I think Reagan is too. She ate for 20 minutes after the bottle. And then she didn't even spit that much up this time.

It's so hard to tell! Your LO may not be hungry. The reflex is to suck/eat, so when they are gven a bottle, it seems like they are gulping it down out of hunger versus because of a reflex. There is a good KellyMom article about it, but I'm on my phone so I can't link it.

@MsLipGloss: Your LO has reflux, right? We will have to talk about it Thursday!

K's been taking ~3oz. bottles for a couple weeks. Just turns out that way cuz that's how much I usually get from pumping. She doesn't always finish, but last night she was still hungry after at 3 oz. bottle. So i put her back on the boob. It's all breast milk though, if that makes a difference. (She got a bottle because we were giving her meds mixed in.)

There was times that my lo ate very little at that age and times when she seemed to never be full. On average I would say 2 oz but I do remember her eating 4 oz of breastmilk from bottle once or twice...
I wish there was a normal for this but I think it depends on what is happening { growth spurts etc. } and your lo's appetite

LOs are eating anywhere from 2-4 oz. depending on how hungry they happen to be at that particular feeding. I know that isn't helpful for the waste factor. I just put about 2 1/2 oz. in a bottle and if they are still hungry, then I give them an ounce more at a time.

LO is 5 weeks and put away 5 ounces the other night...I thought she'd take like half of the bottle but I was so wrong! I usually pump between 2-5 ounces at a time and I'm wondering how much she generally gets straight from the boob. I wish there was a way to tell!
