DH was off for 6 weeks when we had DS! Saved vacation, plus boss gave him extra time just for kicks, and it was around thanksgiving/christmas/ny!
He'll probably only have four-ish with future LOs.

DH can get 6 weeks paid off but he says it will look and if he takes them all. I'm hoping when the time comes he can take off 2 weeks 3 separate times.

He got 2 weeks off when we loat S but he won't take that long this tume. Just a few days.

DH makes his own schedule, but he didn't take too much time off. 2 weeks both times?

DH only gets unpaid paternity leave so he used one week of vacation time.

He only "gets" 2 days, but he has vacation he can use. Our plan is for him to stay home for a week or 1.5 weeks initially (if I'm in the hospital longer for some reason), and then take a week off a little bit later when his mom comes. And he'll have enough time that he will probably take another week or two later in the summer if I want him to.

He just quit his job to start his own business and help with LO when she is here.

Only 3 days. He had vacation time he could have used, but we decided he would save it in case of an emergency.

My DH has a weird work schedule anyway, but it was awesome that things worked out so he had December and the first three weeks of January mostly off (LO was born 12/4). He's only had to go in twice for a couple hours each time, which is practically nothing! Not sure if we'd be that lucky in the future, as it was a combination of vacation time and some flukes in scheduling that gave him such a long time off.

Zero. He worked the day I was induced and all the nights after the night J was born.
I wasn't getting paid for a few weeks, so someone had to work.

One whole week! It was awesome and helped me recuperate and get used to being a new family. I'm hoping he can get that much PTO for our next one, too.

What is this thing called 'paternity leave'? Never heard of it!

That's really good. My husband had a week, but we were moving that week so all his energy went to that.

One week. His boss was flexible the second week and let him come early a couple afternoons.

None, he went back to work the day after we came home from the hospital. I was pretty upset about it - he works for his family business, and it's small so they feel the effects of a person being gone, and my delivery happened to coincide with one of their employees already being gone on vacation. I've made it clear that won't be happening again, I expect him at home for at least a week next time.

That's awesome! He had 2 weeks off, but it wasn't paternity leave. He's a professor and LO was born 2 weeks before his semester started. She was also born 2 weeks early so I was really thankful for that! Had she be born on her due date he would've been at work a couple of days later.

We don't have specifically paternity leave here. My husband has one week a year "family care" and he used that after LO was born as well as two weeks vacation.
After my 17 weeks maternity leave which can only be taken by a woman who's given birth, there's 35 weeks parental leave to use as we see fit consecutively or concurrently with me being on either maternity or parental leave, but you can't "come and go" so DH may take the last 12 weeks while I go back to work when LO is 9 months. His job tops up to 93% of his salary for 0-35 weeks that he would choose to take off and has to hold his position.

He didn't have any actual paternity leave. He used vacation both times. It was one week for each child.

3 weeks this last time. If we stay where we are now he could have 4 months next time if his OT bank is full...if we move he could have nothing because we'd be starting new jobs (but probably will not let that change our child spacing.)

With DS he had 10 days and took some extra vacation.
With DD (and a different job) he has one month pat leave that he is using now, and took an extra week of vacation the week she was born.

1 week and only because I have an awesome MIL who worked for us so that DH could stay home with us!

My husband took a week off after the birth, and then he stayed home with her for 4 weeks after I went back to work. It was awesome!

None! He worked the entire time I was in labor and during my hospital stay. Luckily, he works from home so he was still available if I needed him. It would've been nice to have a few days of his full attention though!

Well, he's entitled to 12 weeks of FMLA leave like most men employed by large employers; but I believe he also gets additional leave from his university.
He was home with us for just over 12 weeks after LO was born.

My husband had the ability to take 6 weeks using his accrued sick leave. He is a manager and couldn't swing taking it all at once (plus, we were both ready for him to go back to work after about 10 days...). He ended up taking 2 weeks when DD was born, 2 weeks in the middle of my mat leave when we went on vacation, and 2 weeks when I went back to work (he stayed home with DD to ease the transition).
Unfortunately, his time at home with DD fell during a really hard developmental stage, so I don't think he looks back on the time very fondly. He says that he wants to do the same thing with our next LO, but that we "have to time it so it's not during the I-want-to-roll-over-but-I-can't-so-I-will-lay-like-an-upturned-turtle-and-scream-about-it stage." We'll try that, honey.
