Poor little A just burped loudly three tines in a row then brought up pretty much all this morning's milk. She does tend to spit up a bit but not like that.... It was just white but quite curdled. Should I be worried? It didn't upset her, she just looked a bit puzzled.

As long as its not becoming a regular thing I wouldn't worry about it too much. I just adjusted our system a little bit so that I burp LO every five minutes during a feed and then keep her upright for at least 20-30 minutes after to try to help reduce spit up issues. I'll let you know if it helps!

I find M's spit up would become more curdled the longer it has been after a feeding. Immediate spit up would be liquid and then it would get grosser as time went on. It seems like a lot but I bet she's spitting up less than an ounce.

Thanks girls. @mediagirl: it seemed like loads but you're prob right in that it was prob about an ounce. Poor baby girl, it seemed like so much for such a little mouth and tummy!

Both of my kids have been very spitty! But great weight gain. Most kids on meds for reflux don't have reflux so be careful about assuming that....
My pedi has told me that just like adults, babies need 15 minutes to realize they're full. So she wants me to take a lot of breaks during each nursing session to give the baby time to process that feeling of fullness. Easie said than done! Mostly I do a lot of laundry!

@sloaneandpuffy: she did a lot of cluster feeding this morning so maybe she was too full? But she hadn't wanted to eat through the night as she was too sleepy.
I wish newborns came with a book!

If she's a happy spitter it's unlikely that there's something wrong. Most babies spit up a lot... it's just what they do

My LO wasn't much of a spitter-upper until he was about 4 months and then he was spitting up like crazy...his doctor said it was probably a combo of teething, moving around more, and overall eating more ounces. She said it's normal as long as he didn't have a fever, wasn't overly fussy and didn't projectile vomit.
