I'm going to a wedding today and I'm not sure how much to gift. I usually buy off the registry, but I didn't have time to go out shopping this time. It's a close friend from childhood. We haven't seen each other in a couple years, but we used to be very close. I still love her to death!! I don't know what the usual gift is at all.

If its a close friend/relative usually $100 but if its an aquaintance or not a close relative than $80.

We give $50 and that's normal here. I think location has a lot to do with it.

I always reference back to how much the person spent on us, so I am roughly in line with their expectations. When that isn't an option, I usually aim for around a hundred

I think this is regional.. I have never given less than $300 for a wedding.

I usually get a ~$50 gift, if I give money it's around the same.

It always depends if I am going alone or with my husband, but $150 per person attending.

Honestly, we base on on what we can afford and how close we are to the person. Family members and close friends will get more but if we can only afford $50 (which has happened) that is all they get. Usually it is in the form of a gift rather than cash money. If we can afford more though, we give more!

We've been doing around $200. Did she go to your wedding/do you remember what she got you? I'd go off that!

We do $100 ish for local weddings, less if we have to travel and spend on flights, hotel etc.
Just order her something from her registry to mail to her house- no one likes hauling wedding gifts home afterwards anyway. -
Depends on the venue but usually around $100 to $150 per person. Close friend usually $300 (me and DH).

In my area, I would do $150pp for friends or acquaintances, $250pp for close friends/family and $500pp for really close family. Weddings are expensive around here!

This is making me grateful that all our friends are either married or far from it, because there's no way I could afford to spend hundreds on each of them!
The last wedding I went to I bought off-registry, and it was like 30$. Maybe I'm a cheapo, but in my area, the gifts never seem to be expensive!

Whenever I see these comments I always think: why didn't I invite you guys to my wedding (: Around here 50 is the norm, and even then that's on the high end. Most people gift something at or around 30-40. But, I think we are on the lower cost of living in ca so it's still an awesome gift.
