We have a part time nanny (30 hours per week) and are expecting to increase her pay after baby #3 is born in June. I'd love any input on how much of an hourly increase you think is appropriate.

I'd ask her input. You want to be sure she is happy with it so she stays loyal to you.

@youboots: I'll definitely talk to her. I just want to have some range in my head going into it and i'm having trouble with that step. I absolutely want to be fair to her and have her feel good about it

A friend of mine who is a part time nanny got a $3/hr raise for going from 1-2 kids. Another PT nanny friend got a $2 raise.

Has she been with you long? I'd say 10-15% as long as it's been a decent chunk of time and she's awesome.

I'd assume anywhere from $2-$5/hr extra, depending on how much you're already paying her. Like if you are already over-paying her for your area, I'd assume lower in that range. If you've been getting away with a steal, I'd go a little higher to keep her happy & loyal!
Generally I tend to overpay my nannies/sitters that I love so that they stick around

@MrsF: Do you have a local mom's group in your area where you can ask? Will she have all 3 kids full time or will the oldest be in pre-school or something?
Did you have her when you went from 1-2, and if so, what was the increase then?

Thanks for the input ladies! I really appreciate it.
@Anagram: We didn't have a nanny when we went through the transition from 1-2, so I don't have a reference there. My oldest will be in preschool 3 days a week (9a-1p), but she has that same scenario right now so the only real variable is the baby. Maybe I'll post about it on my MOMS club fb page - I feel kind of awkward about all things financial, so I haven't yet.

@MrsF: Gotcha. We pay $3 more an hour when our nanny has both kids. So maybe an additional $3 for the third kid.
