I gained 40lbs almost exactly. I lost 22.5lbs by the time I was home from the hospital which just seems crazy. How much did my placenta weigh??? Baby was 8lbs 10oz. so most of that weight was NOT baby. I guess I lost a lot of fluids. I think I must retain a lot of water during pregnancy.

I was right around 20-22lbs weight loss in the hospital...

@travellingbee: LUCKY!!!!! I don't know what I lost right away the first couple days but my guess is just the baby (8.8) lol. I had only lost 12 last week at my 6 week pp appointment and that is WITH starting a clean eating program. UGH.

12 lbs. 9.5 was the baby alone, though.

I stepped on the scale right after I got home from the hospital and I had GAINED weight. I delivered a 6+ lb baby + placenta, I was completely baffled. I cried... a lot. I ended up losing all the weight by 8 weeks and I wish someone had told me that gaining weight after birth (fluids, swelling, etc) wasn't completely unheard of.

Wowww, that's great!! I don't think I lost very much immediately after birth. Maybe just 9-12 lbs? I was still swollen like crazy. I gained a lot (50-55 lbs), and had small-average sized babies (5-10 and 7-7).

20lbs lost pretty quickly. But still up 10 lbs at 10 months postpartum - due to lack of exercise. Boo.

@LBee: I weighed myself after one day in the hospital, all excited for the biggest weight loss of my life and I was at the exact same weight I was before I gave birth. I was disappointed. And I had a baby over 9 pounds too. I didn't get weighed until a week later at a check up for c section issues and I had dropped about 15 pounds by then. I swelled insanely-I thought there was something wrong with my feet and ankles and took myself to the emergency room where the doctor laughed at me...kindly, but still!

I gained 25 lbs during the pregnancy. I didn't think to weigh myself until about a week after my son was born, but at that point I'd lost about 23 lbs. I actually got a bit worried because that seemed way to fast to lose all that weight, but my OB said a big part of that was that I didn't get any IV fluids during delivery.

I didn't weigh myself right after I got home but I weighed myself at 1 week pp and I was down 30 lbs already. I gained 55 lbs though so still have 25 more to go but it's not an urgent matter at this point. I need more sleep for now.

I only lost 9lbs when I left the hospital (had induction and epidural), but lost 30lbs in the first month. Unfortunately, I gained 52 total!
FX it goes better with #2 - hoping to gain less overall.

I don't have a scale at home, but by my two week appointment, I had lost 25 of 30 pounds. I credit a lot of that with how much swelling I had towards the end, once that went away, I felt much more normal.

Both times I gained around 20lbs and lost it all within a few days post partum.

I had an IV in for 48 hours during my induction, and came home weighing just slightly less than when I went to the hospital!
By a week later, I was down 20 of the 30 lbs I gained.

I lost all of it (45 lbs) immediately and was 10 lbs lighter than pre-preg at my 10 day incision check. I was nursing twins around the clock, wasn't sleeping at all, and couldn't eat because of severe GI problems. It was pretty alarming, actually, and my OB was worried when I went in for my appt. It platuaed pretty quickly once I could eat actual food without getting really sick. By 6 months I was supplementing them a lot and had actually gained some of the weight back.

I gained 40 and had an 8lb 10oz baby. Two days after I had lost 11 and by 12 days I had lost 25. The last 15 were all mine to lose

I did not weigh myself until I went to my 6 week PP appointment and got weighed by the doctor. But I was a couple pounds below my prepregnancy weight at that point! Unfortunately, I've gained some of it back.

i gained 45 in my first pregnancy and when i came home from hospital i had lost 14. baby weighed 7 lbs and 7 oz. by 2-3 weeks pp, i lost a total of 20 (before i started to gain some of it back, but that's a separate story/issue!)

Only like 8-9 lbs! I was so disappointed when I got home from the hospital and saw that!! Haha. That just about covered the weight of the baby.

lol, NONE. Like seriously - not one ounce. I entered the hospital at 167, had an 8 lb. baby + placenta + tons of fluid and left the hospital at 167. thank you IVs.
It took forever for my body to "regulate" itself and lose the weight - even the water weight.

Around 75% of the weight gained during pregnancy was gone once I left the hospital.

Like right when i got home from the hospital i realized i was only down like 8lbs (weight of the baby) but i think i was back to pre-pregnancy weight after 4 weeks. I think nursing and generally being too stressed out to eat or sleep had a lot to do with it.

@yoursilverlining: pretty trippy right?! I was picturing a biggest loser triumphant moment when I hopped up on the scale and couldn't believe I hadn't lost anything.

Gained 25 lbs, lost 23 of it in the hospital. DS was 7lbs11ozs, DD was 5lbs 3ozs (so almost 13 lbs of baby).

For DD2 I gained 32 lbs. I was 125 prepreg, and 157 on the day I delivered. I didn't weigh myself immediately PP, I didn't want to stress myself! But at 4 weeks PP I was still 145 when I weighed and I almost became suicidal that I hadn't lost any more! Being sarcastic, obviously, but 20lbs of weight loss seemed so daunting at the time! I cracked down like a madwoman on diet and exercise and I was 125 by 10 weeks PP. I was comfortably wearing my size 2s by 8/9ish weeks.
My labor was super fast so the iv wasn't the culprit!

In the hospital, almost nothing! 22 pounds lost by about 3 weeks, though. Had to do weight watchers for the last 5 pounds, and now I'm working on 20 more.

I lose the weight really slowly. I gain 30 lbs each pregnancy (110 pre pregnancy) and only have 5 lb babies. I lose 12 off the bat and hang onto 20 lbs for a long time. Pretty sure at 6 weeks post partum I had 15 lbs to go Then by 5m post partum maybe 5 lbs to go, lost it all right around 6 months. I'm 35 and exercise reguarly (not sure if that matters).

When i came home from the hospital I weighed myself and I had only lost 9!!! And my baby was over 7.5 lbs. I had so much fluid. They left me on the iv for sooo long.
I was down within 5lbs of my starting weight really quick.

40-50 lbs by the end of the first week, but I had pre-eclampsia and terrible swelling (even the giant hospital socks were leaving big marks on my ankles).

I gained 34 pounds and lost 20 in the hospital. I was 5 pounds over my pre pregnancy weight at my 6 week postpartum appointment. I didn't weigh myself again until last week and am back to what I was before pregnancy.

23lbs. In 3 weeks, the first time I was weighed after birth.

I came home 2 days after LO was born and I had lost 24-25 lbs from the last time I'd weighed myself in pregnancy (a few days before going to the hospital).

Wow! Some of you lost so much! I gained 40. 125 prepregnancy, 165 at term. I was 152 a day after I came home. DS is 4.5 months and I've lost it all. I'm on a very restrictive diet for BFing and still losing. So I'm grateful for every pound I gained!!

@Truth Bombs: this was my experience with #1. I'm glad to hear there's a chance of the same thing happening if there's ever a #2.

Zero pounds! I weighed myself the day I went into labor and when I got home from the hospital and I weighed exactly the same! I had a c section and an IV and retained a ton of fluid. My feet and ankles were huge. By 2.5 weeks pp I was back down to my pre pregnancy weight.

Lost a lot in the hospital...maybe 12? The rest was off within a week. I had zero appetite (now I recognize that as anxiety!) and baby nursed nonstop around the clock.
