I honestly don't remember. I never weighed myself besides at the 6weeks pp visit. I went back to work at 6 weeks so I know everything was fitting by then.
Everyone is different, my SILs bump got huge this time around and my mom said she still looks 5/6 months pregnant!

@yoursilverlining: you're not the only one!! same here. I was only down about 10 lbs. I was bummed for sure. I think I still looked 20 weeks pregnant 1-2 weeks pp. Even at 6 weeks pp when I started back at the gym, I had only lost maybe 13-15 lbs?

25-29 pounds of the 43.2?
Here's the graph (I like graphs and maps...)
Now I am the measurements of when I was 16 weeks pregnant, and I am 13 weeks pp. When I got home from the hospital I was still huge like... 35 or 40 weeks. It really sucked! Also my feet/legs/thighs were swollen like CRAZY from the 5 days of IV fluids. I looked like a monster.

@pastemoo: That's awesome! DH loves graphs...I have to ask him to do this for me, lol.

@hilsy85: I thought it would be awesome until I was *never* in the recommended weight gain region. It did not help my self esteem. But now I'm really glad I have it.

@pastemoo: Ha yeah on the other hand maybe I don't want the evidence of my lack of weight loss in my face...

I gained a ton, like 75 pounds - and I started off being overweight. Ugh. I had extreme swelling issues and lost 35 pounds in the first week PP. And then I lost nothing for the next five weeks. I've started working to get the rest off and am down 12 pounds in the past 2 weeks, which is not the norm for me. It seems to me that the weight is coming off easier than it normally does although I will say that I am super committed to losing this weight so I am being very strict. I will get to my pre-pregnancy weight if its the last thing I do! lol

I gained 37lbs total, at 2w3d pp I have lost 24, so 13 more to go! I'm definitely going to need to work to regain muscle tone though...I walked a ton and swam during pregnancy and yet the ratio of fat:muscle in my legs and belly is definitely inverted from pre-pregnancy!

@hilsy85: Also... see how much more variable they are now than while pregnant? I think it's milk weight.
@Chastenet: Don't worry, when you get back to exercise you will get your muscles back!

At two weeks PP I had lost 18 pounds of the 26 that I gained. I didn't take a picture until 12 weeks pp (wish I took it sooner), but here is a picture of me at 39 weeks and a picture at 12 weeks pp:

@Coco Bee: hahahahaha I crack up every time I see a pic of my pregnant self. My ass was huuuuuuuuggggeeeee.

@Mrsdaredevil: You are so pretty! (And not *that* huge but I remember that feeling)
And you made me want to compare, so I compiled some photos.... pre pregnancy, the day I went to the hospital (delivered the next day on my due date), a week post partum, and 7 weeks pp. (I'm 13 weeks pp and look about the same as the 7 week photo)

I lost 20lbs. I was incredibly puffed up from 5 days of IV fluids and all the pitocin though and that too ages to go away.
grapefruit / 4056 posts
I don't quite remember, I put on 10 pounds right at the end of my pregnancy due to swelling. I ended up down 20 pounds (down to 10 pounds below pre-pregnancy weight) at 2 weeks-ish pp. I lost another 15 pounds over the next month, so by 6 weeks pp I was down 25 pounds from pre-preg by then. Unfortunately despite my efforts I haven't lost any more since then

I gained 28 while I was pregnant. At 2 days pp I had lost 12 (baby was 8 lb 6 oz). At 1 week pp I had lost 17. As of today, 9 days pp, I have lost 21. Still have a very noticeable belly though!

Gained 35lbs during pregnancy and lost half of it by 3 weeks PP. Baby is 3 months now and still have 10 to go.

I didn't want to know. Hid from the scale until I could fit into my pants. Got home and figured I'd try my pants: big mistake---sooo far from closing. Crawled back into my maternity clothes and stayed there til maybe 4 weeks PP, when I got the courage to try again. At that point, everything fit and I think then I stepped onto the scale and had about 10 more pounds to go.

I gained a total of 29 lbs, and when I weighed myself at 3 weeks pp, I had 10 to go. I could button a few pairs of my baggier pants at 2 weeks pp, but it wasn't pretty!

i lost about 20lbs of the 35lbs i had originally gained... 7 weeks pp and i am 5lbs from my prepreggo weight...
persimmon / 1472 posts
I think at 2 weeks pp I had lost 10 of the 38 I gained. I gained 5-7 lbs at the last two weeks so I'm thinking it was swelling and water weight, but it took a while for the scale to start budging. Then after 1.5 months it started dropping fast, probably from BF, and I lost all 38 by 4 months pp. Now at 8 months pp I am actually 10 lb below pre-pregnancy weight aka wedding weight (yah I gained 10 lbs of happy weight the first year of marriage!).

*bump* my 6 week checkup is in another month, and I've been worried I'm losing too fast with breastfeeding since everything I read says only lose 1lb a week breastfeeding! I've lost 27 of 37 pounds at 2 weeks postpartum. I was super swollen at the end due to pre-e, 3 days of IVs and pitocin,
Etc..

@dc yoga bee: It sounds like a lot of your weight-loss is probably water-weight. It is natural to lose that weight quickly as your pre-e resolves and your body heals. But, of course, if you are concerned or if you notice an impact on your milk supply you should call your doctor/midwife.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@dc yoga bee: don't worry too much about it. A lot of the weight is baby, water, placenta, additional blood etc. when you were swollen that will attribute to a lot of the weight loss too. I was pretty much back to my pregnancy weight by 3 weeks PP with both my kids and never had any supply issues BF.

I was 143 pre pregnancy, gained 25lbs & was shocked to be down 18 yesterday at 9d pp. My ankles & feet are like elephant legs , so I definitely still have plenty of water weight to lose, along with a pretty squishy middle. LO is nursing like a champ & I'm hungry all the time, though, so I'm not worried about eating a lot (of mostly healthy stuff) to keep up with feeding her. Eager to get out & start exercising some, too!

@dc yoga bee:
I think I had lost 25 of my 40 lbs but I was very swollen at the end. Not pre-e like you, but it was bad. (Like I got comments on the regular from friends and strangers alike!) And then I was induced which can ended in c sec and on fluids for like 4 days which made it insanely worse. I found in the first couple of weeks I was sweating like crazy and I think that's how I lost a lot of the water weight. I would wake up and my PJs would be soaked. Have you been sweating a lot? My PP Doula said that's how my body was getting rid of the water.
I was EP'ing too, not BF.

@SweetiePie: Yes! I was shaking I was so cold, but was hot and drenched in sweat last week. It's pretty much stopped now.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@dc yoga bee: I wouldn't worry as long as your supply seems normal. I went to my six week appt weighing less than I did when I was prepregnancy. I didn't gain a lot, but lost a lot of fluid from the ivs and then hbp.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@dc yoga bee: Yep! Cold sweat, that's what happened to me too. So I am guessing that's where a lot of your weight went.
Agree with @singingbee, I wouldn't worry unless your supply is being impacted (and judging from another thread of yours it sounds like that's not an issue! )
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@SweetiePie: lol yeah no the supply (and demand) is there! As I lose the weight, my peanut is packing it on. We make a nice team lol!!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@dc yoga bee: I gained 32lbs and was down 25lbs at 2 weeks PP. I was also really swollen at the end so I think a lot of that was weight from retained fluid. I EBF for a year and if anything had an oversupply!
