We buy all of our LO's books used for the most part, but that just allows us to be able to buy them fairly often. We just bought four new ones today and I think I get more excited than they do, it's something new to read! So I would say we buy them books at least once a month, sometimes more.

I save up my swagbucks to get LO books on amazon. And I price watch the ones I really want to get a good deal. I'm able to get a couple books a month this way! I love it!
Grandma (my mom) is a little nuts and brings LO a new book almost weekly these days. I need to ask her to slow down!

Rarely. I get a huge scholastic gift card yearly and buy tons of books that way.

I think I go through binge periods with books, but I'd say on average, once a month.

My dad has done a few shopping sprees at the library for used books, but for the most part her books are new.

I have way too many books, especially kids books. I have had those longer than I have had kids--I guess one of the hazards of being a teacher! Either way, when our LO arrived I was buying new books for every season or holiday, as my way of working on a theme with him.

@cmomma17: haha i do the same with Amazon Price Watch!! I leave books on my wish list forever. Then when they get down to like $3 I buy them.
I also like to buy random books off Scholastic. I'll buy $1 books even if they're not her age group. Just to save for the future and sometimes those are her favorites.

i buy big batches of used books off my parenting listserv so they end up being like $1 each or even less. we recently got over 50 books for $15!

This just reminded me to check out scholastic to submit an order for this round of daycare orders. Just bought a bunch of books for $14. Two of which were splurges; LO's first Pete Cat Book for $3 and Nighttime Ninja for $4! Everything else was $1 ea!
I like that daycare gets a portion of my sales towards books for LO's room!

Where are the best places to buy used children's books? Or the best places to get deals on new ones? I love buying LO books but it costs a lot to get them new! I just bought him 2 new touch and feel books because he really liked the ones we had already!

@bookwormmama: if your LO is in daycare and they participate in Scholastic Book Club that is a great source if you're not picky about selection. Every month there are $1, $2 and $3 books. You don't pay for shipping!
Amazon, though hard to navigate does have them. Or perusing library book sales!
I also check Marshalls and TJ Maxx/Home Goods and buy books on clearance.Unfortunately, I don't have great used book stores near me!

We've been going to the library a lot and trying new books. But every time I'm out at Marshalls' or TJ's I'll grab a few to add to his collection.
He's starting to have preferences now so I don't hoard all children's books anymore

@locavore_mama: I actually work at a library and the books that are in our book sale are usually in pretty bad shape unfortunately (ETA: maybe they aren't the worst condition, but I would prefer better quality...I think I might be too picky when it comes to used books). I should try going to the sale in August though...they might have a few gems! He's not in daycare, but I'll have to look around on Amazon. I don't think I have any big used bookstores by me either but I should look around more!

We live down the street from a Barnes and Nobles so I usually buy from B&N. I also buy from Costco, Sam's club, Target, half-price books, and TJMaxx too. I buy every few weeks. We love books! (Mainly I love books)!

D gets the scholastic flyers at school each month, so I let him pick $10 worth each month.
