Assuming that it isn't just an open cup.....
If your child drinks from a cup dedicated to water only - straw cup/ miracle cup/ water bottle / etc....how often do you disassemble and wash it?
I was curious where we fall on the spectrum

As long as I don’t see floaties or anything in there, or mold when I open it to refill it, I just keep using it. I do the same with the Camelbak water bottles we keep on our nightstands. I probably wash them all about once a month. No one has died yet.

Basically, I try to wash it when I notice it has been sitting out for awhile with something OTHER than water.
2 caveats: we use four or five 360 cups interchangeably, so not lots of use per each, and we try to keep them all in the fridge if not being used.

They are used at school. I bring the bottles home each week and wash on the weekend. Otherwise, we use open cups.

I’m paranoid, but I wash them almost every time they use them.

We wash water bottles every 2-3 days. I store them in the fridge overnight to make me feel better about not washing them daily. I hate assembling them.

Daily to every other day. We bring a water bottle to school every day, and usually when we get home at night, I pop it in the dishwasher and use a different one the next day.

He doesn't use sippy cups but I've watched his little camelbak water bottle with soap like ...once? 🤭

Her at home water cup only gets washed a few times a month, but it lives in the fridge when not being used.
Her water bottle that leaves the house gets washed every night.

@meadow: I wash the cups everyday with hot water and soap. He goes to camp and they actually sent a letter for parents that they need to take them home to wash daily. It’s just a habit for me!

We wash after a days use. So each kid basically gets a cup in the morning and they use that cup all day and then it goes into the sink at night to be washed.

Dailyish? Milk cups obviously get washed regularly but with water cups I some times get lazy with and don't get to every single day. I use the same cup on my night stand for weeks on end so I'm unconcerned with E's water cup going 2 days instead of 1.

We have a thermos one, and....never? I just replaced the straw because my son bit it until it split, and I do look at them every so often but it's never looked gross so I've never bothered.
I'm assuming this is only bottles. We usually use open cups, which I wash every time they're used.

Every 2 days. After 2 days of use I disassemble and put in the dishwasher. Unless the baby’s got really messy/gross from a meal (16mo), then I wash it even if it’s only been one meal/use.

Water bottles used at school we wash daily.
If it's a water cup that I give at home and it's just water, it can potentially be used for like 3-4 days. But my kids always backwash so I feel like I end up washing more often than not since I have to dump out the water anyway.

@graceandjoy: oh yeah, forgot to mention school and camp bottles get washed daily. I just don’t trust that another kid didn’t accidentally drink from it and in general I’m sure it’s just germier. I’m not a germaphobe, but since this goes directly into his mouth I am more vigilant.

@SweetiePie: I agree, we just wash those everyday b/c lord knows if they were on the floor, someone took a sip, etc etc

We tend to leave DD's straw cups lying around the house, so usually after they've been out for a few hours I set them aside to wash. If they go back in the fridge I'll be more likely to just reuse for a day or so. She tends to backwash so I don't want to reuse them endlessly, lol.

The kids have thermos foogoo ones and they get washed every few days. DDs more than DS cause she tends to back wash...even in the thermos sometimes. I check at every fill up to see. I do the same with my big Yeti, it only gets washed maybe once a week.

If she’s been drinking a lot of water, I don’t worry so much about it. But if the water has been sitting for awhile, they need to get washed because we have a high mineral content in our water and it gets slimy. On average, I’d say they get washed every 2-3 days. But we have several so they tend to accumulate and then all get washed at once.

We never use water bottles for anything other than water. So I don't wash them that often (maybe weekly) but I rinse them every day. If I find that it's been sitting out too long without washing, the straw gets a little slimy. And I know it's time to disassemble and wash properly.
