Things like jackets, zip ups, winter coats, hats, gloves...how often do you wash them? Just as needed? I'm thinking since LO is in school now I will wash her things a bit more often than I did last year when she was mostly just around home.

As needed. My son plays hard in the sand so if I can't brush it off his coat, I throw it in the wash. We have a 15 min cycle which I feel gets the job done and doesn't wear out outdoor clothing.

A lot because she goes to nature preschool so 2-3 times per week. They get mud EVERYWHERE. Last year, before preschool, just as needed (maybe monthly).

At least two or three times a season. My mom, a former kindergarten teacher, noticed that some kids winter coats weren't washed because they were worn so much. I almost became that mom. Luckily, snowsuits and jackets dry really nicely in the dryer.

@lamariniere: I need your washing machine! I'm a bit aggressive with laundry and would love to be able to do quick cycles like this!
I wash as needed and of course at the end of the season. Last year I think I really only washed once, but my kids were smaller/less prone to rolling in mud then!
