We're travelling to Spain for a family wedding when A is nine months old, in August. I'm guessing she still won't be on bottles by then and even if she is, it's very hot so I wouldn't want to cart pumped milk around all day, I'd rather give it from the source.
But I don't know how breastfeeding is viewed in Spain... so am a bit anxious about it : )
Anyway, I wondered how often did you or do you breastfeed your nine month old?

I don't breastfeed but my son takes 5 bottles a day - wakeup, before 1st nap, 2nd nap, late afternoon, and bed (with 3 solid meals in between). No overnight feeds and he is awake from 530-730 (roughly, with naps). Hope this helps!

My LO is not 9 months yet (will be later this month eek!) but she nurses 4 times a day and I figure that will be the same for awhile. ETA- She nurses upon awakening, after first nap, after second nap, and before bed. Plus she gets solids 3 times a day.

@travelgirl1: my eight month old breast feeds 5 times a day. That includes an overnight feed, first thing in the am, and before bed. So only two feeds in the middle of the day.

I haven't been to Spain whilst BF'ing, but I have been there before and I think BF'ing is perfectly fine there. It's pretty widely accepted across Europe and they are much less modest than the US in general, so I am sure you won't have a problem BF'ing there.
As for frequency, my LO is 8.5 months old and still has 5 - 6 nursing sessions per day, which is exactly what she's been having since she was two months old. She has solids twice per day but still keeps up with the same number of nursing sessions, although they are shorter in duration (5 - 8 minutes instead of 10 - 15 minutes).
And by the way, super exciting you're going to Spain! Where is the wedding? Spain is amazing and you will have the best time!

@Ree723: We're going to a village called Benimagrell, in Alicante. DH and I actually got married there two years ago. DH's dad comes from there so we have loads of family in Spain and we had the most gorgeous wedding. We're actually wondering whether we could pull off a secret baptism for A while we're there (just me, DH and a godmother in the tiny church we married in) but that's a whole other post, ha ha.

At 9 months LO fed 4 times a day (first thing in the morning, before bed, and twice in the middle of the day). Plus solid food.

LO is 10 months and has been nursing 4, sometimes 5, times a day for a couple of months.

At 9 months old DD was nursing 5 times during the day (morning, bedtime and in between). If we did bottles and I pumped, she would get three 5-oz bottles and nurse morning and bedtime.

we traveled abroad when olive was 9 months and she was nursing 6-7 times a day including night wakings because she was still waking up 2-3 times a night.
once we returned from traveling though, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with a bottle and it's been that way since.

At that age DS was still nursing 5 times during the day and countless times at night (3+, usually every 2 hours), but he had no solids at the time and comfort nursed at night due to reflux.

We went on an int'l trip when LO was around 9 months. She was BF-ing about 8 times a day but I think the stress of the new environment really got to her, b/c she wanted to nurse constantly - like 10-12 times a day and all night long. I think that lasted about 3 days?

On demand! If he's bored--upwards of 7 times a day. If he's entertained, 4-5x/day. 
Then however many at night (usually 2-3 now--I'll put that in the win column!)
I think in Spain you should have no issue breastfeeding in public.

DS is 8 months and nurses once during the day, usually after his 2nd nap. He also nurses at bedtime and once (sometimes twice) during the night, so in total 3 nursing sessions in every 24 hour period.
Side note, we travelled abroad at 7 months and DS nursed more often at night than normal, I guess he was unsettled by the new environment.

At 9 months, DS nursed 5 times a day from wake up to bedtime. He also had started eating 3 meals a day too.

Oh, and I just want to say I'm so jealous that you have a legit to go to Spain often. I studied abroad there and DH and I were engaged there. I really want to take LO when she gets older.

My nursing sessions are just like @Ree723 described at almost 9 months.
