I was thinking today and realized my 8 month old nurses five times a day. (4am, 7am, 11am, 3pm and 6:30pm) I was just wondering if other babies are similar!

My 4.5 month old nurses at 6:30am, 6:30pm, 8:30pm and sometime during the night (any where from 12-3:30am) and then takes 3 bottles at day care (9:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm) so she eats 7 times per day.

DD - 13 weeks - eats 6-7 times a day (depending on how early she wakes up and how late she stays up). Usually it's 6 times.

Almost 6 months old, he nurses anywhere from 6-8x a day, depending on how many night wakings he has and how his naps go. Usually 6:30, 9:30, 1:00, 4:30, 6:30, and one or two overnight nurses.

My almost 4 month old eats 7x a day (nurse 4x/bottle 3x). 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, and two night wakings (sigh).

1 year and we nurse 5+ times a day! Days like yesterday where we're "catching up" because we had a low nursing day the previous day & then alot of night wakings we nurse 8+ times a day. =)

Nurses at 6 AM
Has bottles at daycare at 9 AM, Noon, 3 PM, 5 PM
Nurses at 7 PM
And then I pump again one more time at 9 PM so we have enough for daycare the next day.
ETA: LO is 4.5 months old!

@runsyellowlites: you nurse as much as we do still. That makes me feel better! A lot of people seem shocked when I tell them M is still nursing so much. Are you attempting to wean at all? I had always planned on starting to wean the daytime feedings and keep the morning and bedtime sessions, but now that it's time, I don't want to give them up yet.

@jennylynn: Nope, no plans of actively weaning any time soon.... Really I don't think I'll ever engage weaning because the very thought of it makes me so sad & I know when she's ready she'll do it herself.

she nurses every 3 hours. she is 6.5 months old! girl is obsessed.
at night, about every 3-6h, depending how her wakeups go. she's teething something fierce right now, so I'm soft.

I must have a porky pig! She ate 10 times yesterday. Granted she doesn't eat much at each time, smaller meals due to reflux. She was clustering feeding last night.

She only nurses twice, sometimes three time, a day now and gets one bottle of pumped milk per day. I didn't really plan on her dropping to this schedule until after a year, but she kind of did it herself. A little after a year I'm going to go to just nursing in the mornings and maybe at night. I might keep pumping, but we'll just have to see.

@Smurfette: My LO ate just about every hour and a half until almost 6 months old. We had LOTS of days with more than 10 nursing sessions

She's 9 months and nurses at 8am, 12p, 4p, 7p (before bedtime), and comfort nurses 2-3 times during the night.

14 months old and nurses 2-3 times a day (morning, bedtime, and occasional night waking when she's teething). I won't be actively weaning her off these and let her decide when to stop.

My 8 month old is still breastfed on-demand and I don't really keep track but it's at least 5-6x a day. His really good sessions are all at night, though, before bed and when he wakes up in the early early AM. He's really distracted during the day and snacks more than eats, I think.

@Smurfette: When my LO was really little he was eating like every hour or two, day and night. For months.
pomegranate / 3604 posts
LO will be 8 months in 2 days. He nurses (all times give or take an hour): 5am, 8am, 10:30am (nap). 2pm, if hungry around 5, then dinner (solids, blw), nurse immediately after, then 11pm & 3am (truthfully he could probably do without that one if I tried hard enough, but we cosleep so *shrug*).

Almost 5 months & 8x/day. 1230, 4, 730, 1030, 1, 3, 5, 7. Too much! Some days 9.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@Smurfette: My girls got used to it, but I'll admit it that sometimes it was really hard mentally, to be so completely needed all of the time. Now that he's cut back a lot I'm trying to savor it, especially the longer sessions when I can sit and stare at him and feel his weight in my arms.

Wow I feel like my 5 month old nurses a lot. She nurses when she wakes up in the am, before and after every nap (3 naps a day), then before bed, and 1 overnight feed on most nights. So about 9x

@sorrycharlie: teething's a bitch isn't it?!
Miss A was six months old yesterday and has always been a frequent nurser, she nurses about nine times a day, incl one night waking / feeding.
