To kiss your Lo on the lips?
I'm thinking I'll keep kissing my kids til they're 6?
Or til they tell me to stop

DS is 5 and told his dad he didn't want to kiss him on the lips anymore, recently...I think it got awkward for the kid, especially since his dad doesn't see him a whole lot.
I think I stopped around 3, for some reason, but I do kiss his cheek or the top of his head. And I'll probably always hug him.

Good question. I know this came up at daycare with the teachers in the 2 yr room.

I have no idea... I hope not for a while lol. I'm gonna sound like a creeper but I love my kids lips and kissing them!

My DH is forever kissing LO on the lips (I do, as well) but he said "I know it won't be acceptable for me to do it for long so I'm going to do it as much as I can until then." I thought it was so sweet! But I think as long as the kid is cool with it, it's fine.

Aww makes me sad to think about stoping! Though he just sort of open mouth kisses me at this point

Too sad to even think about the day when he will no longer want my kisses. I'll keep kissing him until he asks me to stop, which I hope is never.

Kissed my father on the lips the day he died - I was 28. So long as no one finds it weird, I say never.

My oldest is about to turn 11 and to be honest it got weird probably maybe two years ago or so. It just felt weird to both of us I think, you can tell when the time has come-if it never does then great, but for us one day she just seemed too old for it:(

I feel pretty strongly that it's fine up to any age as long as the child is comfortable! My family was not a lips-kissing family, so it would feel totally strange to me at this point. But I do with my girls, and Ellie is six and it doesn't bother her.

I often still kiss my parents on the lips, and I'm 27. I greet most of my extended family and close friends with kisses on the cheeks. I'll probably just follow LO's lead on this one, but we're an affectionate family, so I see no problem with it.

They aren't my LOs but I kiss my nieces (12 and 7) on the lips. And my MIL/FIL kisses us both on the lips pretty regularly. I plan on doing it until he asks me not to.

@chopsuey119: lol that's my plan too!! At least with DD. might be weird to kiss my 30-yo son on the lips though! What would his future wife think (though he's not allowed to marry til he's 50 hehe).

This is a very cute thread! I try to kiss LO on the lips but he has never really let me... he always turns his head away right when I try to plant one on him since he pretty much born. He's 1 yrs old now and I still try to plant one on his lips before he quickly moves his head away. He's a sneaky one... he almost always turns his head away at the last moment and I get a mouth full of ear.

NEVERRR! Just kidding! I can't imagine not smooching my DS, but you are right, probably 5 or 6, haha.

Just off the top of my head? Maybe 3-4? I don't really have much of an opinion on it though.
Personally....I've never smooched DD on the lips on purpose! I'm always afraid that something on my lips might be something that will get her sick... Adults' mouths have loads of bacteria in them!

I just realized I don't do this even now...I kiss my daughter about a million times a day but not on the lips. I didn't grow up with it so it must have carried over to my mothering as well.
However I think you should do it as long as you and your lo feel comfortable with it! If you do it for your entire life then so be it

I'm 29 and still kiss my parents on the lips. I don't understand why that's weird?

For as long as she will let me. Hopefully forever - she will always be a baby to me
