    DD is 22 months and I generally do cut her grapes, though sometimes she grabs them before I can do it. DH never cuts them, though. I also try to cut cherry tomatoes but she loves the "pop" they make in her mouth when she bites into them, so half the time she won't eat cut ones. She's never allowed to have these things unsupervised or anywhere other than at the table, though.

    My kids are 4.5 and almost 2, and they eat grapes whole. I think I stopped around 1.5 years old for both of them. I do cut LO2's grape tomatoes in half.

    3.5 and yes. I'm so scared of choking. I'll prob cut them until she's in college.

    She's 26 months and yes, I always always cut them in half, and if they're really big, in 1/4's. I just read yesterday about a kid who choked on a grape and is in a coma.

    He's 13 months and no, but we usually seek out very tiny grapes for him. If they are large grapes yes. Bananas we still cut into pieces and hot dogs I cut them into thin coins. I haven't cut blueberries in a while unless they are really fat.

    16 months, and yes I still cut them. Maybe when he actually has molars I will stop.

    LO is 18 months and I cut his grapes and hot dogs... He has taken a bite from mine before and I haven't given it much thought.

    This is the best invention ever though.

    @catomd00: I immediately thought this thread was in response to that. The little boy was 3?! I just assumed that after 2 we would be in the clear 😕

    I reminded DH about the grape thing today 😐

    Just read an AAP statement...apparently there is a choking death every 5 days in the US and kids under 4 are at the highest risk. Anything that can conform to or that is the right size/:shape to be able to fully occlude an airway is potentially unsafe.

    My mom would always refer to grapes, hotdogs, as baby killers.......she cut them for a LONG time ......well that is stuck in my head so I will too!

    Yes to grapes and hot dogs and they are 3 and 1. My managers 5 year old just choked on a grape at the beach this summer, but they were able to get it out. My Mom was always so paranoid about choking so I guess it's instilled in me.

    @MrsB2012: that little boy died

    This is a big discussion at our house. After reading about the little 2 year old at Pizza Hut who just passed away after choking on a grape, I'll be cutting up LOs grapes. My DH recently has stopped and I have been bugging him about it. Our LO loves being a big girl and not having her food cut up but the thought of choking terrifies me.

    3.5 and yes. I don't consider myself a paranoid mom but grapes are one of the few things I will keep cutting in half for a while!
