He's not a preschooler anymore, cause he's finishing kindergarten this year and will be 6 in a few months.
But, when he was 3, he was going to bed about 7:30 and waking up around 7, with no naps at home. They had rest time at school, for about an hour, but he didn't always sleep then.

Almost 4 years old and sleeps 10-12 hours at night. No naps. He NEEDS the full 12 hours though or he's grouchy all day.
He's having a hard time understanding it's still bedtime even if it's not dark outside which has caused him to take forever to fall asleep at night now, cutting into his sleep.

charlie is almost 3 1/2. he sleeps 10-11 hours at night, and then naps for about 2 hours.... longer if we let him. he has been going to bed late lately and i think it's affecting his behavior. ideally he gets 11-12 hours at night and a 1-2 hour nap.

@Koolbreeze: Yeah, the later sun messes with my kid, too. Now that he's reading, I allow him to have some books in bed with him until it gets dark. I think this summer we'll be having bedtime pushed later.

DS just turned 4. He wakes up at 5am, takes a 2 hour nap, and goes to bed between 7:30-8.
So about 12-13 hours.

@Mrs. Bee: oh gosh, if Ben goes to bed past 8:30 - he is terrible the next day. The extra hour or two really matters. If we put him to bed later, he still won't sleep in the next morning.

@Dandelion: DS1 will lay there for a good 1-2 hours and just wait for it to get completely dark outside. We read bedtime stories to him but maybe I should let him "read" alone after few a little bit while it's getting darker.

@HLK208: 5 am??? Yikes!
@Koolbreeze: @Dandelion: sometimes DD is good at reading in bed. Other times she gets frustrated and cries "but I don't know any of the words!" Poor thing!

DD (almost 5) sleeps 8:30 to 7, and doesn't nap any more. That's only 10.5 hr, doesn't sound like enough to me... She could definitely nap mid day but doesn't get tired until 2 or 3 , which doesn't work for preschool/day care schedule...

I was just talking to my son's daycare director, and in the 3 year old room, they still take a nap, for about 1.5 hours.

DD (3 in one month) is in process of dropping her nap. She'll normally sleep about 10 hours at night with a 1 hour nap during the day or 11.5-12 hours at night with no naps during the day.

10-11 hours at night. Sometimes 9 depending on when he finally falls asleep. He still takes a 1-2 hour nap. More on the 1 hour time frame though.
