My supply is rapidly dropping and DS is 10 months old...don't really want to start formula and then switch to milk, but not sure if I can hold out a whole lot longer.
How old was your LO when you made the switch?

Exactly 12 months. I had to supplement with formula at 10 months because I wanted to stretch out my pumped milk. I gave her 1-2 bottles of formula a day!

Right at 12 months. I didn't have much supply left at that point and DS was a pretty good eater. We never did formula.

Around 12 months bc my supply was tanking and I was increasingly supplementing with more formula. I did gradually and she went to full milk around 13 months.

We are beginning to supplement with goats milk right now and our daughter is 11 months. I am hoping to be switched over by the time she is a year.

11.5 months. He did get a mix of breastmilk and formula starting 7.5 months, and all formula no breastmilk at 10 months. However, he basically was weaning himself off of formula anyway, and between 10-11.5 months I was worried sick because I'd make a 5 oz bottle he'd drink 1 oz. We started daycare at 11.5 months and he was put into the 12-18 month class, and all kids drink whole milk there. They tried to give him formula that I prepared but he won't take it, but he gobbled down whole milk! So there we finished up our last bits of formula and went to complete whole milk.

When I asked about starting sooner, my ped advised waiting until 12 months. So we'll start the transition after their bday.

We waited until 12 months to start the transition. I also had a small stash of breastmilk that I used.

@matador84: Can you give LO bottles of both BM and F until he hits 12 months? I have struggled with supply since I went back to work, and I have been giving LO combination bottles from about 4 months on . . . it works out really well for us.
ETA: I divide whatever I pump at work equally into her bottles for the next day, and then add formula to the desired total amount for the bottle. Currently, LO gets approx. 2oz of BM and 4oz of F in each of her 3 daytime bottles.

LO just turned 1 and we haven't transitioned yet. I'm trying to wean from pumping during the day, but I've got a bunch of frozen milk still so will keep giving her that until it's gone, especially since she's anemic so if I can keep the cow's milk to a minimum I think it will help her iron levels get up.

12 months, the doctor said not to earlier. But she was on formula already
