I have different rules for different media. For example, I'll let anyone follow me on Pinterest, friends and most aquaintances on Facebook and hardly anyone except my buds follow me on Instagram. I rarely use Twitter and haven't figured out my rule for that. What are your rules? Answer below and/or take the poll.

It's my understanding that you can't limit / delete / block people from following you on Pinterest. Is that right? I have started making private boards for that reason.

FB is for friends, family, HB/blog friends I've met in real life, and a handful of coworker friends.

Pinterest is the only site where I let anyone follow me because I don't post any identifying info there, for the most part. IG and FB is for close friends, family and HB. Even then, I've had to filter some family out because they would share pictures or write weird comments.

FB is strictly for family and friends that I know personally and keep a relationship with.
Instagram is open to anyone because I post my art stuff there for my business. Although I'm thinking of making a separate account for art that's public and a private personal one for pics of T.
Twitter is open but it's the same situation as Instagram right now.
Pinterest is open to whoever because I don't post anything personal there.

I don't post anything on my FB wall. I just use it to follow businesses and be part of a few private groups.

Pinterest – Anyone
FB – Years ago my then boss friended me and Facebook lost its position as a place where I felt really comfortable. Also I really just don’t like Facebook. I post something maybe once every other month, if that much. I do participate a lot in groups, so there are people who I’ve met through groups that I have friended. If I don’t know you from a group or have a mutual friend or other connection, then I usually don’t friend.
Twitter – I’m followed by a lot of corporate accounts such as hotels and restaurants because I blog about food and travel, so I tweet a lot about those things. My name is not attached to my account though. It’s just my initials. I love Twitter.
I have an IG account that I don't use.

Instagram is very private - I think I only have 15 followers or so - only family and friends that I would actually call on the phone
Facebook is a bit more open, but I have to have some connection with you, like I probably won't friend you if you just went to my high school and I knew who you were but we weren't friends, but if we danced on the dance team or had a class together and talked, I will likely friend you.
No strangers, no co-workers, no friends-of-friends. -

I'm on Pinterest and Linkedin. Pinterest is fair game. With Linkedin I am a little more selective weeding out people/ industries that are irrelevant to my interests and pursuits.

I'm private on everything but Pinterest. I don't share pictures of my personal life there but just aspirations so I think it's safe to be public on it.

@808love: three syllables: pin-ter-est, sometimes if I am talking fast it comes out like pin-trest, but not usually.

@808love: Pintrest similar to the way I would say "interest rates", which is different than the way I would ask "what interests you?" I never thought about the pronunciation before.

Pinterest is open to anyone.
Facebook is just people I know.
Instagram is private, but I let a lot of HBers follow me, so this one is kind of a gray area.

I don't really use Pinterest or Twitter. For Facebook, I let friends and acquaintances follow. I'm pretty picky on Instagram, so I only let my closer friends follow me there.

I don't use Pinterest.
I have a Twitter account from way back when it was new, but I haven't logged on in years and don't even remember the password anymore. Same with IG, the app kept crashing my phone and I couldn't get my login to work on my computer so I just abandoned it. I'm not sure what my privacy settings are on either of these but since I had never posted much and it's all 4+ years old at this point, I don't really care.
I don't really post to FB either, but I log on occasionally. I'll only add people I've met in person or "know" well from online communities. I'm thinking of seriously paring down to get rid of old classmates and other random folks, though, and making it just for actual friends and family.

I don't have twitter. I have pinterest but I rarely use it and didn't know I could even manage my followers. IG I have private although I will allow people I know OF to follow me (like, regular users here are fine, but not just random people). FB I only let people I actually know in person or have talked to for a while online friend me.

FB is for friends and family. Private IG is for people I know and HB people. Public IG is for my sewing stuff. Pinterest and Twitter are open to anyone, and LinkedIn is kind of meh.

Facebook is for work, graduates, classmates, and family- I post a few kid or work things a week there.
Instagram is my happy place, I keep it private, mostly just friends, including HB'ers that I recognize- and little to no family or work so I don't have to be as careful about what I say. It is one of my favorite things!

Twitter I use just for "media consumption" - but I don't tweet anything, I just follow people. Good way to get headlines/updates for me.

and mommy friends that also post pics of their kids, interesting decor, recipes, or fur babies. I do also like to follow celebrity, workout and shopping feeds.Pinterest is for anyone, it's just resharing tips so nothing private at all.

IG is mostly HBers, no in-laws and close friends and family! Oh and shops. It's my favorite. More and more people that I haven't seen in 5+ years keep trying to follow me. No thanks!
