Have you ever had any problems with top-of-stair gates? Are the for real safe?

I think so, as long as you get the kind that kids CANNOT open. Gates are all different and some are easier to open than others. Like at daycare, they have really easy to open ones but at home ours are pretty much impossible for DD.

We don't have kids but we have two large dogs and our gate warned us not to put it at the top of the stairs, but we did so anyway. It has been fine, completely secure, despite the dogs wacking at it with their paws whenever they want to go see somebody downstairs (this happens daily at least). I think I'd feel safe using it with kids in the house. But I'm no expert.

We have one and it's fine. LO loves hanging off it and shaking it too
