So, I hear that my LO is awake and talking to himself. I usually let him stay in there for up to 15 minutes or until he starts fussing. How soon do you pick up your LO after they are awake from their nap?

I leave him in as long as I possibly can. I've found that he will occasionally go back to sleep if I leave him...even if he plays...and then starts to cry. I don't let him nap longer than 1.5 hours during the day though, so he's rarely in his crib longer than that anyway.

Depends on what kind of mood he wakes up in. If he's happy and playing/chewing on his toys I'll leave him for a few minutes to see if he falls back asleep (he usually doesn't) and then I'll go in. I love seeing his face light up and him try to get to me. I'll talk to him through the slats for a couple of minutes and then take him out.
If he wakes up pissy and crying (often) I'll get him right away, because he won't go back to sleep. As soon as he sees me he starts to scream until I've picked him up.

@matador84: How old is your LO? Why do you not let him nap longer, out of curiosity?

Usually I let him hang out until he starts fussing. Sometimes, he'll just talk to himself and roll around for a few minutes.

If he is crying right away I don't wait longer than a few minutes. But if he plays or talks to himself I'll wait 10-20 minutes depending on his mood

We generally leave him as long as he'll allow. When he was little until he got whiney, now, usually he calls for us or climbs out (just moved to a twin bed).

Usually within 5-10 minutes, if she wakes up crying I get her sooner, or give her paci back if it was a short nap and I know she is still tired (wakes up upset).

If it's a short nap and he wakes up crying I know he's still sleepy so I will leave him for 30-ish minutes so he can fall back asleep. For long naps, I get him right away.

@cranberryapple: he is six months. Anything longer interferes with his nighttime sleep.

I usually wait around 15 minutes too unless she's fussy or crying.
