BFFs DH just texted me and her water broke this morning! So exciting.
How soon after having your baby were you ready for visitors? She lives about 4 hours away, so if we go, it'll likely be for more than a 15 minute visit, but we'll definitely stay at a hotel and not insist on being house guests. We have a long weekend next week and it might be the perfect opportunity for us to go up and meet their lo, I just don't want to be a bother.

It just depends on the person so I would just ask. I had a friend who was upset we didn't visit right away, we thought we were giving her time and space. But others don't love having people visit right away.

i think especially since u guys are bffs, it's okay to go right away. i'd ask the dh what he thinks. =) i think the long weekend is a good time to go! but make sure she'll have time for you - may be that they have tons of family around and you won't get to spend much time with them.

I agree, totally depends on what they think. My cousin was thrilled to have visitors because her SO had to work right away.

We had visitors 4 hours after LO was born! And DH's aunt and uncle dropped by the day we got home from the hospital.

I would just check with them because everyone probably has their own preference. For myself and hubs, we're probably going to tell friends not to come right away (1-2 hours after delivery) because we kinda want to just relax and share a special moment with our new baby before he meets family/friends. On the other hand, getting that message to MIL is another story....haha
