@T.H.O.U.: we bought it used (no stains or anything) but it still grosses me out that other kids used it. lol. I know so gross to buy stuffed animals used...we never do but this one was a HUGE ride along elephant for a dollar, I couldn't pass up.

@stargal: If you're worried about germies I would stick it in the dryer on high heat for 20-30 minutes.

Can you take it to a laundromat?
I was tempted to get DD a huge bear from Costco, but decided against it because it was too big to throw in the wash!

Do you own a steamer? You could try steaming it with high heat to kill germies. It won't remove any dirt though.
