@macintosh: I would toss in a lingerie bag and wash in the machine.

if you don't want to buy a lingerie bag, you could also use a pillow case and tie it closed (either with a knot if the toy is small, or a rubber band if it's bigger)
But as long as they're hard plastic, it probably won't hurt anything. It wouldn't be any worse than throwing tennis shoes in the wash.

I used a spray bottle with vinegar and water for toys that say surface clean only. Then hung them in the sun to dry.

Most of those toys are actually safe for washing - I know I've washed our Lamaze toys in the washing machine.

I throw ours in the washing machine. Pretty much anything is fair game as long as there are no electronics.

I dump in soapy water, wring it out as best as I can and lay in the sun to dry.

I throw her toys in the wash on gentle cycle and let them air dry
