We are in the process of potty training my son (he's almost two). How should I clean our cloth stash before putting it away for a future child? Should I strip with dawn? Use bleach? RLR? Just wash as normal? I looked through several pages of posts in this category and in potty training and didn't find anything. Thanks!

I just put them away after I sunned out the stains!

I washed mine as normal and stored them in vacuum bags. They were perfect for LO2!

I didn't do anything special, but ours are stained, so I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with that in preparation for number 2.

@mrs. tictactoe: look into professional stripping. I just did mine and it made a world of difference. It was $40 for 40 items.

@mrs. tictactoe: I don't think they are really stained or anything, but I thjnk I'd rather deal with any major cleaning now and then just a simple wash in the future in addition to replacing elastic. Are you sending yours out to be repaired or converted?

@ChelseaRose: I live in the middle of nowhere but my mom lives in St. Louis so I sent them with her and they picked them up at her house and dropped them off 3 days later. I just looked and it was only $25 and some of my diapers that I thought were permenantly stained came back perfect. @jetsa: Thanks for the info! I will probably ask my mom to do them if it's not too complicated. I have converted one of my Velcro diapers to snaps and it wasn't too bad, so that part I will do myself. I haven't yet even looked into tutorials for elastic, but she's very good at sewing and projects. I may send them away though. I really don't know yet. I'm not pregnant right now, so I'm not too worried about it yet. I also didn't thknk I would potty train this early.
