T has historically been super gentle with baby R. Kisses and love and never a mean touch. When R (now 8.5 months) began crawling a few weeks ago, T (who is 3 years, 3 months) began acting out. R will just be sitting on the floor and T will run up and push him over. Or if he thinks I"m not looking, will squeeze his leg really hard.
I immediately react by showering R with attention and making sure he is ok. And then turn to disciplining T. I don't do time outs, but will remove him from the situation, speak sternly (ok, yell) to him, and make sure he apologizes. I give a warning that if he does it again, he will have a consequence (take toy or privilege away). Nothing seems to be working so I'm wondering if I need to do something else.
I'm so upset over the situation....I get ragey mad to see a 3 year old beating up a baby. And sad that T who used to be kind and gentle to everyone now is really aggressive with his brother.
Help?
