So obviously, stop birth control & have sex....but are there other things I need to do before planning to TTC? Should I buy ovulation kits, etc? What are your suggestions?
My first LO was a surprise so I am afraid TTCing Baby #2 will stress me out!

with olive, i didn't track anything. i had no idea when i ovulated. i just estimated that it was around 2 weeks after my last period, and got busy that week. got pregnant that month!
i would give it a couple of months to go with the flow if you think you're going to be stressed out with tracking! no need to do it from the get go!

I only have two bits of advice: make sure you are already taking a good prenatal with folic acid, and if you have any other health conditions, make sure they are as managed as possible.

Prenatal and enjoy! If, after a few months, you want to get more serious about charting/OPKs/etc., all the information is out there. But I say just have a good time for now!

@Mrs. Bee: Wow, hope we can conceive that quickly!

I agree with taking prenatals and having fun for a few months. I have been charting, monitoring, and stressing for over a year and I think it's not something that you should start out doing. If you haven't gotten a BFP after a few months, then I would move on to temping, etc.

@PBandBaseball: do you have any good website recommendations for charting and all of that stuff?

Definitely have fun for a while before starting to worry about it, if I were doing it again I wouldn't worry about charting for a few months, just mark your peroid on a calendar if you are like me and can't remember dates well.

I was nuts about the charting right from the get go. Its just my personality but i will say it took the fun out of it. But a great resource is Fertility Friend! I did the free membership and it worked just fine. Good luck!!

@autumnlove: I use Fertility Friend. You can use the website or the app which is really convenient. I like it because you can track your temps along with the information from any fertility monitors or ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) that you may be using. There's also a section for tracking symptoms but I don't use it. The good thing about FF is that you can use it for as much or as little as you'd like.
Hopefully you will get a BFP soon and won't need it!

I didn't chart because I wasn't diligent enough to use it as an accurate tracker. I did use Fertility Friend just to record my periods and CM symptoms. The first cycle I didn't really use anything, The second cycle I bought the internet cheapo OPKs and the thir cycle I bought the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor and used that to track my O days. Got pregnant on our third cycle!
Good luck to you!

I agree that Fertility Friend is an awesome resource! I also recommend reading the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I think the information in it is just great general knowledge even if it does happen fast for you (I hope it does!!).

I agree that Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great resource. I can't believe I forgot about it! I think I learned a lot about what I should be feeling/seeing during my cycle.

Like Mrs. Bee I didn't track anything except keeping in mind when I expected my period and made sure to consistently "have fun" about 2 weeks before it was expected. I got pregnant on the 2nd month of trying...also during this month of trying I insisted we do the missionary position

I went to the OB for a checkup, started prenatals, got off my other meds, and started charting.
