I personally like the tile. So, all I would do is get rid of the mirror, change out the light fixture, and do something about all the white. Maybe paint the vanity, or get a new counter top for it. Paint the walls, and you could also get new sink fixtures. Also, a new shower curtain.

ETA, also maybe add something on the wall, like shelves or something. That is a large nothing space.

@Anagram: I suggest taking down the giant mirror because it's dated and putting in a smaller one. Changing the light fixture would be cheap, but you will likely have to repair the wall (same if you take down the mirror. For above the toilet, I installed glass shelves instead of a cabinet because the cabinet made things seem so dark in our small bathroom (it's only 4' by 5').

remove the mirror and just add small one above sink- I am not bothered by the light as a potential buyer (I could easily change it myself) - no cabinet above toilet, just an open shelf for towels - toiletries can be stored under the sink

I would also remove the giant mirror (replace it with a small one over the vanity) and probably just hang some art in that space above the toilet if you're going to sell. Let the buyers decide if they want a cabinet or not.

our old bathroom was similar and what we did was -
1. cabinet over the toilet
2. mirror ran all the way up to the ceiling to make it feel larger
3. put in recessed lighting instead of any light fixture over mirror
4. paint
5. extend the granite from the countertop over the toilet to create even more storage/counter space.

(we also pulled all the tile but that is way too much $$ for a quick reno!) I can try to find a pic if you are interested!

Change the counter top to a colored stone or granite. Instant face lift.

Frame the mirror in white molding.

Since the mirror is so large I would add a piece of artwork over the toilet area that you can hang from planter hooks in the ceiling.

Paint the walls one of the colors from the artwork in a very pale shade.

The lighting and a smaller mirror. I would also paint a light blue just to give it some color, it's very white/beige right now.

New light fixture, smaller framed mirror above the vanity and maybe some shelving above the toilet. Granite countertop if you want to go that far. I don't mind the floor and the tub time isn't great but you can just shut the curtain! I'd probably do a curtain from ceiling to floor, too.

@Anagram: We were in this situation. We changed the lighting fixture, replaced the mirror -- not as large as yours, but it had a big heavy overbearing frame -- and painted. We also replaced our towels. It looks so much better! I will try to find a link to the fixtures we used. I recommend looking up Ferguson if you want to shop for bathroom fixtures. They have a great selection, much nicer than Home Depot.
