We didn't bother with one until recently, and we live in a pretty dry climate. I wish we did use it when LO was a newborn because she was congested ALL the time and looking back, i think it would've helped. Ah...it's a must for us! We live in super-dry SoCal and I need it, especially with my eczema! After DH got used to having it on in our room, he can't even sleep well without one anymore!
Eczema runs in my family and my cousins' kids all NEED a humidifier, not only in their rooms, but in their playrooms/living rooms as well. I would say if you lived in a humid state, no need. But if you live in a dry climate, yes.

We had one for the first couple months because our air was so dry and she was always congested. Haven't used it for a few months now though, but now that it's getting cooler again, we might have to take it back out.

We bought one after being told that it'll help with colds/congestion. I actually had a cold when it arrived and plugged it in that night. I felt like I was able to breathe easier the next day.

Everything I read says to avoid the warm mist ones because they promote mold.
