I am so excited! The husband surprised me by randomly taking us to best buy so I could pick one out! Now I just have to figure out how the tricks work! Any ideas/tips for beginners? (:

Fun! When I first got mine, I read up a lot on how to use it, and basics like aperture, shutter speed, focal length, depth of field. Then it's just a matter of practicing and playing with it. I like to shoot in aperture priority mode (Av mode). You choose the aperture/depth of field and the camera picks the shutter speed for you.

I was trying to read up on it last night and I was overwhelmed. I kept getting confused between lighting and adjusting levels...uh oh. But I guess I have time to learn while LO sleeps (: I will definitely take your advice on Av and try playing around with it, thanks (:

Practice on everything! Read the manual and check out digital photography school online website they have so.e great articles. I read a bunch h of online stuff and bought/ rented a bunch of photography books and learned about everything I could. What helped me learn aperture/ shutter speed was writing it down like I was studying a test. Lol. It helped though! Then I xhalleneged myself by only letting myself shoot in manual and that helped me learn on my feet.
Oh And don't feel overwhelmed its a lot to learn in the beginning but it will become second nature once you get into it.

@hellocupcake: it is confusing at first. Eventually it will all click. One thing with aperture to remember. The lower the number, the more light that gets let into the camera and thus a higher shutter speed. Also lower aperture = shallow depth of field which means less in focus and creates blurred backgrounds. Hope that makes sense!

@stargal- I think I really will think of this as a personal class. Taking notes seems like an awesome idea. I can write cheat sheets for myself so I don't have to google it every ten seconds (:
@mrskc- yay, thank you. I'm browsing his post right now (:
