For the first time in 19 years, I can see without wearing contacts/glasses!
I got Lasik yesterday! It hasn't even been 24 hours, but I can see clearly. Amazing!!

Awesome!! Now don't spend much time looking at screens today, your eyes need to heal.
Isn't it the best feeling though?

Congrats! DH and I got Lasik 9 years ago, and it was the best decision and money we spent on ourselves. 9 years later our vision is still clear!

Awesome! So jealous. I went for a LASIK consult last week and found out that my corneas are too thin to have it done. Bummer!

Wow! I'd love to get LASIK but I'm scared... How was the procedure itself? Uncomfortable at all? I would looooove to not have to wear contacts or glasses!

@MrsADS: do they do prk at the center you went to? Recovery takes longer, but it's the least invasive and good for thin corneas. Dh got it done 6 yrs ago!

@MrsSCB: I was a little scared too, but it wasn't bad at all. The worst part was when he created the flap. Some pressure and discomfort on my eyeballs, but it didn't last long. The entire process took 10ish mins and when it was over, i could already see a lot better.
Post op discomfort lasted less than 3 hours, and by 8 hours I was seeing almost perfect, minus some haziness.
I definitely recommend it! So happy I decided to get it done!

@chopsuey: not a candidate for PRK either. The problem is not just thin corneas, but thin corneas + very high diopter (-12.5). The doctor said if I had a more normal diopter (like a -3, -5, etc), my corneas would probably be ok to do it, but not with my high diopter.
There is another doctor who does a procedure called an Intra Ocular Lens, which is basically very similar to cataract surgery. It has great result for very blind people (lol) like me. But it's 2-3x the price of Lasik and quite a bit more involved (more anesthesia, done in a surgery center).
