Oh my, the blood. I thought it would never stop. It looks horrible now. It's soooo deep, I feel awful. It happened this morning and now I have to send her to her first day of daycare tomorrow with a boo boo. 
From now on, we file. Has anyone else ever chopped off their lo's fingertip with the baby fingernail clippers?

I'm sorry! I cut LO's pinky finger with Tweezerman nail scissors during her first month! I had to trim a bandaid and cover her hand with a sock so she wouldn't mess with it!

Oh how sad I clipped the tip of Lillian's finger the very first time I tried cutting her nails! She didn't even cry but I did, I felt terrible. Mind you, it happened within a minute of me thinking how good I was because I never clipped Caidence's fingers in the whole almost 4 years of her life.

I did! The thumb too. I felt SO bad! It happens though. A lot of my mom friends have done it too. Really, the blood just keeps flowing out.

I did maybe the 1st or 2nd day we had him home from the hospital. He hardly cried, but I felt terrible. I put the smallest bandaid we had on him, and it was huge. I've since either bitten or filed his nails instead.

We've done it a couple times My husband had to cut one of our bandaids to fit over our LO's finger! I've tried filing and it just doesn't work...his nails grow so fast!

P clipped her once and was traumatized for life. He hasn't picked up her nail clippers in over 14 months!!

I cried when I cut my daughter's finger. She screamed and there was so much blood. She was fine in a couple of minutes but I no longer use nail clippers. I use baby nail scissors and hubby and I do it together--he holds her hands and I cut.

Oh yes, she screamed, I screamed, blood everywhere, it was horrible. Good thing Mr SH was there to calm us both down.
That's why I bite baby nails off now.

Never clipped Wagon Jr.'s skin, but I knicked LMW a few weeks ago. She cried out right away and I felt horrible, but thankfully she was nursing at the time and was soothed immediately. I was so afraid it would get infected but she was fine.

Yes. First time I went to do it. Took the tip of her pinky! She didn't make a peep, but there was SO much blood. I was traumatized and like you, we file now.

once. drew blood. was clipping and son pulled away. ddoh. luckily it wasn't too deep but o.m.g the way he cried. woulda thought i chopped off his finger. lol.

The same thing happened to me when my LO was only a month old. He cried so hard, and I felt like such a bad mommy. Luckily it only happened once, but I still don't like clipping his nails. Always afraid that he will jerk suddenly and I'll accidentally clip his skin.

Awh!
I use nail scissors - a few weeks ago, I cut too close and almost cut into her skin. Her skin was really red and looked irritated, but there wasn't any blood. I still felt awful

Yep, 3 times! First time when she was only a few weeks old, it wasn't deep, hardly bled and she didn't cry but I felt so horrible! The next time, it was because she moved and she hardly bled, though she definitely felt it and cried. Then just when I swore I'd never do it again, I did it again!
