I'm so exhausted. DS has a cold and has been waking up every 2.5 hours. I feel so unproductive and lazy at work. Pumping is so tedious and time-consuming, DH and I argue and I feel bitchy so much of the time. Sometimes I think I shouldn't have been a mother. Sorry for the whining, I just need to vent.

I'm hiring two new employees, my dept. is short right now, DH has a weird schedule with his work and I have to scramble for sitters during the week, I got my wisdom teeth out last week and haven't felt normal since. I'm just going through the motions until it's weekend! We're almost there, mama

Teaching and being a mom is beyond difficult. I felt the same way you do. I just couldn't do it all. I was on the brink of nervous breakdown and had to quit my job.
It's a lot to handle. I'm here to vent to any time. Can we set a concrete date to grab some foodies and vent?

We all feel like this at some point or another (or at least I hope!) so you aren't alone!! This too shall pass. You are a GREAT mom and I'm sure your relationship will get back on track in time, just like your sweet boy will be feeling better soon.
I definitely agree that it's a lot to handle. Is there any way you can treat or pamper yourself, even if it's just something small and not time consuming? That always perks me up a bit. Hugs

Hugs!! It's hard to make it through some days. Try to keep in mind that this is just a short term phase and you'll be on to the next phase very soon.
Some days I struggle and my mom has advised me to take a picture of something that symbolizes the stress when you're really overwhelmed. She says some day you might miss it. When I take such a picture it helps me put things in perspective. I have pictures of the SNS from newborn days, chaotic living room, the vacuum from colic. All those things symbolized so much stress at the time but they are memories now, except the living room - but the mess has changed. Looking back on those pictures give me hope/confidence for the future.

I remember having the thought numerous times, why did we have a baby? I want my/our old life back. It was as hard adjustment for DH and I.

If any working mom tells you that she hasn't had moments where she felt like this she's either a saint, or she's lying. My LO and I are both sick right now as well so I'm right there with you. Two nights ago I swear she woke up ever 20 minutes! You just have to power through a few more hours and then take the weekend to rest up and get back on track. Hang in there!

@Katrocap: hang in there. I agree with everyone, we all feel like this at some time or the other and pumping really intensifies those feelings. This too shall pass.

You sound exactly like I've been feeling lately. LO has had a cold for a week, DH and I are basically doing nothing but snap at each other, and I'm so overwhelmed at work... ugh. I've never been so stressed/tired in my life. Hang in there, we can do it. Right???
And I agree with others, everyone has that moment where we wonder if we did the right thing. I had one last night. I wouldn't trade my LO, but the changes her birth has brought were way more dramatic than I expected.

@Katrocap: I just want to second what @MamaMoose: said about all working moms feeling this way whether they cop to it or not! It happens to me frequently . . . one example would be when I was conducting a deposition and had to abruptly go off the record/ take a break because I was about to be overwhelmed with anxiety (I was thinking about my LO's (then) up-coming surgery). I have had other days where I considered it a win that I even went to work, let alone did anything remotely constructive. You're so not alone! Just one day at a time, and if that's too much, take it one hour or one email/lesson at a time!

Ladies, thank you so much for your support. It really means a lot to me. I know this is corny, but I wish I could give each one of you a hug right now! DH is wonderful, but he just doesn't understand.
@mslipgloss: Thanks for telling me about your deposition. I do try to take it one day at a time, although, honestly, it is often one hour at a time! Although I've never been a super type A person, it's still frustrating feeling so unproductive.
@bookish: I agree, how my life has changed since DS was born was way more dramatic than I ever expected!

I know it doesn't feel like it, but things will get better. We have all been there, and it sucks - big time! Just do what you can and keep the communication open with your husband so he understands why you feel like you do (and that it's just exhaustion talking/yelling).

Hugs! I remember feeling this way when I pumping at work and in addition to home life. I sometimes feel this way in general. Working and managing a family is tough work. Some days are easier than others.

@Katrocap: don't feel bad about feeling bad. The parenting thing is overwhelming. Hopefully your DS will feel better soon and his sleep will improve. I feel you on the pumping though - I'm ready to give it up but I don't want to feel like I quit.

@swedishfish: I'm ready to give up pumping, too! I only pumped once instead of twice on Friday. It was great. But I still want to try to produce enough milk for DS for daycare, so it's back to 2x on Monday.
@googly-eyes: It feels like it's going to last forever when it's happen, but rationally I know it will pass. Thanks.

@cascademom: I had no idea how hard it is to manage work and family life. Of course when I was on maternity leave, being a SAHM was tough, too. I guess no moms have it easy.
