Wow that is rough. I haven't gotten that one yet, but I have gotten "bad girl!" I cried.

Ugh that's a tough one we are not to that point yet, but I am sure I will be hearing it in the future, and I dread it already. One of the families I nannied for had this issue and when their kiddo would say this, the parents would say "Well I love you" or "I understand you are upset, do you want to talk about it"...it seemed to work for the most part, but did take a little bit of time. The LO was saying it out of anger (obviously) so getting to the root of the issue was what really helped.

We sometimes get the phrase "I need time and space", but I don't think she would understand the concept of not loving nor heard a phrase like that yet, but I'm sure it's a matter of time. She goes to school full time in the fall and I'm sure she'll pick up unsavory phrases!

oh God...I don't know how I would handle it (badly for sure). I'm sure its coming soon enough...

She doesn't say "I don't love you" but she does say that I am not her friend anymore or she tells me that I don't love her anymore... And it breaks my heart

We have a few months to go before LO is born, but this post makes me tear up just reading it I know we did this to our parents as kids, and I really wish I hadn't! My heart will break if/when this happens.

Not that one. I think our youngest has said that to my husband once or twice. He's also known for gems like "You are MEANIES" and "I never want to live here or come here again!" (we only get the boys part time).

Usually the only time he says these things are when he's done something that warrants a punishment. Usually after a time out I'll go and talk to him and ask him if he meant it or if he thought that was very nice.

He usually comes back with "I don't want to talk about that part" and I'll ask him if it's because he knows it wasn't a nice thing to say and he usually says yes.
