I just deposited a check into my bank account with Chase by taking a picture of it with my iPad! How cool is that?! I love technology.

That's amazing, do you still have to bring the check into the bank or give it back to the person who gave it to you?

I used my iPhone to deposit via BofA a few weeks ago. It was awesome not having to run to even an ATM! My question is, how do they prevent you from depositing twice?

@T-Mom: I am guessing they have a system in place that keeps track of the check number, amount, routing number, etc. Then if you try to deposit it again, it gets denied. This technology wasn't invented yet when I took Payment Systems in law school, so I never learned about how they prevent fraud!

@lawbee11: they do. In fact the amount of work and security that goes into it is INSANE. The nanny mom I work for, she works for a really big bank, on the corporate side and she actually spearheaded the project of creating the ability to upload checks via iPad/iPhone etc. She would tell me about some of it and it was crazy!! They are really secure with it, so I wouldn't worry
I use a really small bank though so I wouldn't be able to use this awesome feature.
