And I am not scheduled to have any surgeries. The lady on the phone asked if I could come in a little earlier. I said that I am not scheduled to have any surgeries and she asked if I was sure.
So, they got my chart mixed up with someone of the same name. This scares the hell out of me considering I will be going into the hospital within a couple weeks to have a baby.

Wow! I know our hospital has a patient ID on your bracelet and anytime they come to administer anything they read it to you to verify. Does yours have a policy like this?

@T.H.O.U.: Ours does this too. It gets annoying after awhile, but I understand the liability.

@T.H.O.U.: you know Im not even sure. Last time I went in I didnt even really notice. I may bring it up with my doctor to make sure MY chart is ready to go. I am also going to tell them when I go in to verify they have the right person.

This sorta happened to me in college. I had an infection in my armpit area and needed to go to health services every night to have the bandage changed. I don't remember what exactly I was doing but I went on the later side one Friday or Saturday night (I think I was volunteering or doing something with my service fraternity). I happened to be there when a really drunk girl came in and was eventually taken to the hospital. Well, when health services went to notify her parents, they instead called mine. My parents knew I was out that night but didn't know what or where (or that it was with the service fraternity aka not drinking). When they called me the next day, they kept asking how my weekend was and thought I was lying to them. We laugh about it now but talk about a relatively serious mix up!

That is crazy! I used to go to an obgyn that had a patient with my same first and maiden last name. (I also went to church with the same lady.) I was brought her chart once and they started reading off some of her issues. AWKWARD!!!!!!!!!!

Yikes! That would freak me out.
I have had some doctors in the NICU talk/ask about my "daughter" and I stop them right there... If you don't know what gender my baby is you're not going to be able to give me any useful information. On the phone you have to give a code number to get medical info.

@MrsMcD: Yeah, they told me what this surgery was for. It isn't anything too embarrassing but I would be mortified if someone else knew what I was going in for!
@beaker: Ouch, yes, I would probably flip if someone didn't know specific details about my child!
