I just want to be done!

My boys are a week away from turning 10 months old (how did that happen??), which means I'm two months away from being able to transition them to WCM. I EP and my original goal was 6 months. After that came and went, I started thinking about going until 12 months. I'm sooo close and yet it feels far away still. I think I'm just over pumping. I long to be done with this machine and to be free!! But at the same time, I feel like I should stick it out so I don't have to transition them to formula and then WCM so soon after.

EP'ers, what kept you going in the later months?

Stubbornness? I really, really just want to be able to say we made it to a year. I have a countown on my phone, even. And I daydream about setiing it on fire and kicking it off the roof of my office building. Those kinds of things keep me going lol.

I don't EP but I do WOH full time so I've done my fair share of pumping. LO turned 11 months this weekend and honest to God 10 months to 11 months has made a Huuuuuuuuge difference in my attitude. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. You can do it mama! You made it this far!!

@MamaMoose: good advice! 10 months was one of the hardest ones for me mentally. But now that we passed the 11 month mark it is only a few weeks to go.

OP, maybe just work on getting to 11 months and give yourself oermission to reasses then

I quit at 11 months, but I also had a freezer stash. It honestly got way harder at the end! But I already used formula so I wasn't worried in case I ran out early.

Good job getting to 10!

First, just want to echo that you're awesome for pumping for twins for so long!

You are doing such a wonderful job!

I EP'ed for 13 months, and I think the hardest point for me was the beginning. I was crazy from trying to figure everything out, and I was pumping around the clock. Once I passed 6 months, every additional month was just a bonus that I never expected. Towards the end I knew that there would be an end very soon, and it kept me going.

i know how you feel! i'm at alittle over 11 months and i just want to be DONE! right before the 11 month mark i was sooo over it so i dropped a session. now i'm down to two a day. that definitely helped. a countdown would be a good idea too!

you're doing great tho! you are so close!!

You're so so close!! I'm an infrequent pumper because I mostly WAH but gosh, I can't wait until I shoot a wedding next year and I don't have to bring my pump stuff!! Ah!

I don't really have anything to add since I'm on Canadian mat leave, so don't have to pump unless I want to go do something fun.

I just wanted to say WOW. 10 months exclusively pumping TWINS is so impressive. We're only at 3 months and was talking to my husband about switching to formula at 6 months, and stories like this inspire me to keep at it.

@sunshineandsushi: CONGRATS! You're soooo close! What got me past the 1 year mark was dropping pumps.. At 10.5 months, I dropped down to 2 pumps a day and things became much more manageable.. I only had to pump for one, so I had a pretty big stash. Be warned though.. when you drop down to 2, you better be prepared to wean.. For a month I was getting ~20 oz. off my two pumps, then literally over night it dropped to 8 oz. Sad times..

Thanks everyone, for the support! I'm currently at 4 sessions a day. I'll occasionally only do 3 and notice a huge drop, so I know that if I want to make it close to 12 months, I pretty much need to stay at 4 pumps a day. My boys currently take 40 oz a day between the two of them, so I still need to pump quite a bit. But it's definitely better than when they were taking 60 oz a day combined!

@DillonLion: haha, I dream about running it over with my car. Hmm, stubbornness is a good point! I can make that work for me.

@MamaMoose: @DillonLion: Good idea. Instead of looking at the next two months, I'll just look at the next month.

@Mrs Green Grass: @LaineysMom: I did get a huge stash built up, around 600-700 oz, but when I dropped down to 4, we started needing to pull a bag or two a day to add in with the fresh breastmilk, so it's dwindled quite a bit.
