I did that too! The 2nd night (final night) DH slept at home with our older son. I wanted him to be well rested. I knew that I was going to need him once I got home.

Good luck! I sent my dh home too. We had two dogs at home and the chair bed looked ridiculous that he was supposed to sleep in. I wanted one of us to get some sleep!

Nah! First time around I needed him, but second time or second plus I can see how it wouldn't be necessary, especially with a LO at home. He needs the rest to keep up with everything! They aren't running on adrenaline like we are! If the gramps were super comfortable keeping the older LO I would consider asking him to stay.

I definitely wouldn't have haha! but this is your second so it's more understandable. Our hospital was an hour from home too so that wouldn't have panned out well.

I sent him home, too. He even had his own bed, but it was killing him and I figured he needed a good nights sleep before we came home. It was fine. I had no problems calling the nurses for things.

Good luck, there is no way I could have done this! I remember her crying and I couldn't get out of bed quick enough. Plus I think it was good for my husband as a first time dad to experience her first night. Maybe with #2 it will be different.

For our first baby, I couldn't have sent him home if I tried. He wanted to stare at her as much as I did all night long. If we had a second? I think I would send him home to be with our first!

ETA: Totally sweet he got you everything you need within arms reach before he left.

I sent DH home, too. Both DS and I ended up being in the hospital for 5 days with other complications and DH had work. He wouldn't have been able to do anything at the hospital and our pets needed care at home, too. I don't regret sending him home, he would have been sitting in an empty room at the hospital.

I sent DH home. The recliner for him to sleep in looked incredibly uncomfortable, and the nurses were so great. I also had him put everything within my reach! We both rested well and he was back first thing each morning.

I sent him home both nights because I don't think it would have done him any good to not get any sleep. My theory through the first couple of months of LO's life was that there was no point in both of us being exhausted since someone had to be able to be well-rested just to get things done, you know?

Awww - that's so sweet of him to get you all of that. I actually sent DH home because he needed to let our dogs out.
