I'm taking 2 days off of work and sending T to daycare anyways! I have not had a day to myself in.....wait....9.5 months....so feel like I am due for a few "me" days. I could keep him home with me, but we have to pay for daycare anyways. Pre-baby I never though I would do this, LOL!
Have you ever done this? How did you spend your alone time?

I did this for a half day back in January! I did a few chores around the house, laid on the couch watching bad TV, and took a bubble bath and read a book!

Enjoy!! Don't feel bad, I think you deserve it! I did this once, but I was home sick and knew I couldnt't care for LO to my best ability and didn't want to risk her getting sick.
However, I might be doing this when I finally get my vacation renewed (is it August yet??)

The other factor is my husband doesn't have vacation time til May/June and I have 4 weeks running January - December and if I don't use it, I lose it!
I *might* pick him up early each day : )

That is AWESOME, @winniebee!!! You deserve it. He has no idea and you need the time to yourself! I would probably stay home, eat crap food and watch daytime TV one of those days. That's just me. 
@lulu mom: I feel your pain! I took all of my vacation for last year and this year for my maternity leave. I've been back to work since September and am still waiting for my vacation to renew on July 1!!

I've done it. It's partly why I pushed to have a work from home day in the middle of the week. I can schedule groceries, laundry, etc. while working. When I mentioned to my mom that I took a day off and had LO in daycare, she mentioned that my brother and SIL do this occasionally. I didn't feel too bad after that.

Don't worry about it! I used to be the director at a daycare in a small suburban community and couldn't believe how many SAHM's dropped their kids off EVERY DAY for HOURS. I mean, I'm a SAHM now too, and I totally get doing it for a few hours in the morning for socialization or a quick Mommy break, but eight hours? Every day? Ridiculous. You definitely shouldn't feel bad about doing this for just one day! Sheesh!

That's awesome! When my DD went to daycare, I started a new job, so I limited all my personal days off for a long while. And since she would get sick from being new at daycare, I already felt bad if I had to take sick days to stay home with her... So I didn't do this, but totally wish I could've swung it. Anyone who judges you for doing this, just doesn't understand. There's nothing wrong with it at all. Enjoy your time off!

Absolutely! Usually I use the day to run errands and get things done that take forever to do when DS is with me.

@mediagirl: I had to take it for my maternity leave, I've been back since the end of Decemeber, and get it back July 31, I seriously count down the months! I miss being able to take a long weekend for fun!

Last year, DH and I sent DD to daycare on a day we both had a holiday (it was President's Day, I think), and we had a whole date day! I was like 7 months pregnant, so we spent the morning lounging around the house and then went out to lunch and a matinee. It was so much fun!

that sounds AMAZING!!! there have been so many times I've considered doing drop-in daycare just to give myself a day off! It'd be easier if I had a designated daycare to do that though... I'd worry about him in a new place... I should just have my mom take him for a day so I can do whatever..
If I had two days, I would do housework, cooking, errands etc the first day and the second day totally veg out!! Wine, chinese food, TV, maybe a mani/pedi and a NAP!!!

I am planning a mix of errands and housework (and getting our taxes done!) as well as a wax, mani/pedi, and a little shopping. I'm so excited haha!

I think it's a great idea!
I have been working part-time on my current project, but LO still goes to daycare FT b/c we didn't want to lose our spot and I needed to be a bit flexible with my PT hours & days. I've still been taking LO to daycare when I'm working from home or off, though I do pick her up a little earlier. It's wonderful to have some down-time to just be alone & relax or do housework/errands without baby in tow. Plus, she loves her daycare and stays in her routine. Win-win!

Yes, I did it two weeks ago. I had 3 days off between jobs and I sent LO to daycare 2 of those days. I had so much to do around the house and it's hard getting things done just during his nap time.

I've done this several times with my nanny. I feel a little bit guilty but at the same time I know I need a mental and physical break just to recharge. Usually, I will let our nanny leave early so I can spend a couple of extra hours with our LO.

Yes. I have to use my vacation days to catch up on everything ....bills, cleaning, errands, anything I can't normally do while watching a toddler, which is uh, everything. ;p I have no guilt about it.

@winniebee: I'm a SAHM and I do this all the time...not with daycare.
I'll drop LO off with his grandma for 4-5h and I'll come home and nap, watch a movie or take a hot bath:) Most of the time I actually run errands and do some laundry though ha.
