My BIL is turning 40 in early December so DH & I want to do something for him.

He lives about 2 hours SE of Atlanta as are his 2 girls and we're in NY State as are my ILs.

Couple ideas I'm throwing around:

1a) Flying down for the weekend and surprising him. Hopefully if my ILs want to join they can watch the kids for the night. That way BIL, DH & I can go into ATL to do something fun but relatively inexpensive. I'm hopeful I can find Living Social or Groupon Deals.

1b) If he wants to do something "guy" DH and him can go and I can stay home with the girls.

2) Since we'll have to pay for a hotel while we're there anyway. I thought since he's only about 3 hours from FL maybe renting a beach house for the weekend instead. Him & the girls can meet us there and we'll fly into FL.

Money IS tight so I'm hoping pre-planning will allow us to save for it now.

Any other ideas? Or locales 2-3 hours near ATL that will be fun in December and relatively easy to fly into?
