I have just done a major purge of my closet and have tons of shoe boxes that I don't know what to do with. Other than just putting them in the recycling bin I thought I would ask everyone what they do with theirs or what clever ideas others have.

I use them for Christmas gift wrapping rather than buying boxes; holding random paint/art supplies; I have one in my closet that holds all the extra buttons that come with my clothes.

I save a couple for my son's school, they use them to make mailboxes and dioramas.
I also have made a size sorter, my son loved that.

I cut off one side, or a space out of one side wall and then line/cover them in fleece or flannel and give them to the local animal shelters. They are great for tiny kittens.

I use them to keep organized. I keep fabric, yarn, and other craft supplies in them. One box for stationary, one for random printed photos I haven't done anything with, one for ribbon, one for paper crafting (hole punches, stickers, etc), one for paint supplies. I'll use them for keeping small sets of toys together as my kiddo gets older and no longer tries to eat cardboard boxes. I already use larger boot boxes to store toys she hasn't grown into yet and cloth diapers that we aren't using right now.

Before DD got a wooden dollhouse, we made shoebox dollhouses. I use to do that for my nieces and nephews when they were over and this was before we had kids so we didn't have many toys at our house.
