@spaniellove: I didn't have a problem getting coverage, I don't think @Shutterbug: did either (but I could be wrong). But that really sucks about the loopholes :(.

@ShootingStar: you're right, I didn't have trouble getting coverage. I know that there are loopholes, like if the company is based out of state, for example. I have BCBS, which (as PurplePumps said) covers 6 cycles of IVF. My job is sort of sucking lately (overworked and underpaid) but I will not leave because of the great IF insurance.

@bluestriped bee: @ShootingStar: Yup, I'm in MA. But that is all I get. Apparently there are people in states with mandated IF coverage like MA, that don't even have coverage according to my doctor. I'm not sure how that is possible though, but that is what she told us yesterday.

I am on my husband's insurance now, so we if comes down to another round, I will get on my own plan next year, which should give me coverage for another round.

@Shutterbug: That is interesting about the loophole in MA for companies that are out of state. I was wondering about that because we are moving to MA but my husband's insurance policy specifically says that we do not have IF coverage (other than diagnosis). That must be why...

I've now doubled my costs since this post was written. Now we are paying another $15,000 or so this week for IVF #2. So darn expensive and wish all states would cover IVF already!

Updating my numbers. After my 6 IUIs, I spent $10k out of pocket. Now in the middle of my IVF cycle, I'm at $28k, total. The IVF single plan was $15k plus $3k meds. (BTW, call WinFertility for a quote for meds. Cheaper than any other pharmacies I called.)

Ugh! Make me sad I spent a car or college education and I'm not even pregnant yet. Oh, do I wish people who don't even have to think about getting pregnant realize how lucky they are.

I know it will be worth it when I do have a child in my arms but I don't think I'll ever get over the money I spent.
