It took a couple of days for her to get used to it. Maybe 3 or 4 to drink all the milk that I packed.

A month. It was tough, but having a patient and persistent caretaker made all the difference.

It took about three consecutive days when she started. Then It took her about two months before she would reliably drink on Mondays.

My LO was a little older (9 months) and if he drank 2oz of water at daycare it was a good day (he was on table foods by then). That lasted until he was maybe 14 months or so. He still nursed at night and in the mornings and had enough wet diapers so we didn't worry too much about it.

@Pumuckl: Really? LO is 7.5 months so I'm hoping that with me nursing her in the a.m. and at night she will be ok with water and solids during the day!
I'm packing a straw cup for sitter to try today!

@FaithFertility: well it's easier now looking back at it. At the time we just kept offering and I knew he'd drink water since he had done so in summer when it was hot. I guess he just wasn't thristy. She'll let you know if she isn't getting enough and as long as diapers are wet you should be good.

@Pumuckl: Yeah, she takes the sippy cup at home at times 2-4 Oz so I'm hoping it clicks and she does it there!
So hard as a mom....
She is doing great there other wise

6 weeks, it was the longest 6 weeks of my life. And then we decided to try formula again in a different bottle (we tried 30x different combinations I swear) and she took it! So we decided to switch to formula full time. This was a tough decision for me, but she was only 2% weight at her 4 month check in and the doctors were concerned about her not getting enough to eat (all day strike will do that) so I put my feelings aside and she's happy and gaining like a crazy person now!

@FaithFertility: she was 6 months when she started. She never took a bottle once in her entire life, and went very long periods of time without intaking anything to avoid it. The daycare was near my work so I ended up just popping over to feed her.

@LuLu Mom: Sorry it was so hard if DD was that young it would truly kill me to leave her like that!
Great job Mama doing what you did!

@Rockies11: DD is 7.5 and seems to be ok so far, I hope she figures it out soon!
I'm a teacher so leaving would be really hard, but if her health because an issue my butt will be there!

I've been back at work 2 months. He drinks lightly from a bottle but it hasn't really improved. It varies from 2-9 oz the 9 hours I am gone and he nurses very frequently when I am here! I do think if my husband and sitter were experienced bottle givers it could have helped. I have them offer rice cereal mixed with ebm and other purees and as he increases his solids intake I feel better! Luckily at this age it's less of a worry! He's 7 m and I went back to work at 5m.

@junebugsmama: Yes, we are doing the same she mixed the formula with her oatmeal this am and with her veggies during lunch, but today she rooted on her around 12 and wouldn't take the soppy or a straw or a cup!!!

Well we went from drinking nothing MT
To me getting a straw cup that she figured out 1st day and she has been taking 1-2 Oz for her WTF from 8-12:30
She is eating all her food and happy as can be, so is guess we are making progress!
I'm nervous what full time will bring next week
I'm going to offer the straw cup all weekend too!
