What is/do you plan on being the age gap between children if you plan on sending both to daycare? DH had a total freak out last night about the cost of 2 kids in daycare.

The cost of two kids in daycare makes me nauseous! Haha. But really, if we had to pay for childcare for 2 kids I would probably explore nanny options in great depth before resorting to daycare.
Otherwise, we don't plan on having a second until LO is in school full-time.

@Sammyfab: I think the nanny route is definitely more affordable.. especially since we currently pay $390 a week for one child..

We plan on spacing our kids out. Once DS is three, daycare/preschool is a lot cheaper. It will still be expensive having to pay for two but better than paying for two infants!

@littlek: I know! I saw your other thread...daycare costs in your area are insane (and I thought my city was bad!)!!

At least four years apart, if we decide to have #2. Daycare costs are actually the guiding force behind our family planning, which is depressing

Two years for the first two, with at least the first in regular school before we have a third. Daycare will be about $400-$450/week for two here. Pricey but manageable short term!

We pay just under $300 a week for one, and we are planning on approx 3 years between LOs, so only two years of dual daycare if we go that route. We will look into a nanny as well and see if that might be more cost effective.

We just got our first bill for Montessori with both of them. It hurts!!!

We feel that we'd be ok with double day care, but if we have 3, the first would definitely need to be in school full time which here is when they're 5 I think? I can't imagine 3 under 5 so I think we're good...

A nanny is only a couple hundred bucks more than daycare for one, number two will not be going to daycare.

My sister had a LO who is 4.5 months younger than mine, and she doesn't plan on having another until her LO is closer to school age. It's difficult to afford 2 kids in daycare.

Just talked to DH it looks like we are going the nanny route when we have LO #2. Daycare for 2 would be about $700 a week. Ouch!

We're hoping to maybe only have one year of overlap. So, three years apart would mean 1 in day care for three years, then I'd be off on maternity leave for a year so no day care, and then just an infant and a preschooler.

Ours will be over two years apart. We will have two years or less that hurt but then it goes down. Ours is about $950 for an infant

@littlek: perk of living in a small city. And that's the best daycare in town!

Well, IF I'm pregnant this cycle, LO's will be 20 months apart. By the time mat leave is over (55 weeks), I'll have a...2.5 year old? and a 13 month old.
HOWEVER, we pay (roughly) 7$ a day, per child. So 14$ a day. Which makes factoring in daycare-costs with regards to child spacing nil.

@matador84: that's awesome! Our daycare is mid tier. The pricey ones are almost $500 a week for one child.

@littlek: yep, Quebec specifically. They have REALLY good family-friendly policies, which is a big reason why we moved.
