Did you join online or go to meetings?
Or neither?
It's $60 to join online for 3 months right now but I'm wondering if it's worth it. I have 10 lbs to prepreg but I'd like to lose an additional 20lbs. Any WW tips?

I did WW online - I wonder if the meetings would have held me more accountable though.

I've been doing it online since last June. I've lost almost 35 lbs so far. With online, it takes discipline and personal accountability to do it. I use the WW phone apps and love them. We also have a Fitbit scale, so keep track of my weight on there too.

I did it in 2010 and had great success. I lost 25 lbs in 5 months before my wedding. I went to weekly meetings & the ladies were great. When I got married I moved and really didn't enjoy the meetings. I did WW online and lost at least another 15-20lbs. My best advice is to invest in a digital kitchen scale & really measure your portion sizes carefully.

It did online. I think as long as you are accountable to yourself you can do it!

I joined online, and I would've done better with meetings. It's very easy to ignore the app

I did it online 5 years ago and lost 25 lbs in 6 months.. Very effective for me! Check with your HR department and your health insurance, you might get a discount!

I used the online version + app when I did it two years ago. I'm not a big social butterfly so meetings didn't sound appealing to me.

I didn't join. I used an app on my phone that cost a flat fee of $3 to do the calculating and tracking of WW points.

I did it online and loved it. Planning to do it again this summer!

I did it with meetings about 3 years ago and lost 25 lbs. it was very effective! I tried it online last year and it was much harder to be accountable . Now I just do My Fitness Pal which is the same idea but free

@char54: I guess mfp is similar huh? Do you just rely on calories like mfp does or do you still think about points when you eat?

@Ash: I used to always think about ww points but they changed the program the last time I was there and I don't know the new system as well. MFP works better for me because it's free (ha) and a bunch of my family and friends are on it so it holds me accountable (there's a newsfeed kind of like Facebook that shows my weight loss, if I signed in for the day, etc). So now I just track calories and it helped me get the last 10lbs of baby weight off, now I'm trying to get down to my wedding weight!

@Ash: I'm doing it online, and it's been great so far. I use the app to track everything. I think it's nice if you know someone else who is also doing it so you can talk about tips, recipes, hold each other accountable, etc.

They may have changed some elements but when I did ww meetings 2-3 years ago they didn't give you a way to calculate points yourself, you had to use their book to look things up and there were tons of prepackaged things and some basics were missing. I was really frustrated that I was paying for the service and then was expected to pay extra for online support to find out how many points were in quinoa. I did like the meetings for the most part but I was pretty frustrated with the mentality that so many prepackaged things were encouraged- some made by ww and some not. It definitely works I just thought I would throw in another perspective.

@Cole: I think it's changed. Fruits and veggies are strongly encouraged with them being 0 point value. From what I've seen on the application, etc., fast food and prepackaged items are a much higher point value. If you're attending meetings, I wouldn't be surprised if they're encouraging sales of their products. I haven't bought any of their products since doing WW.
@grizz: @rahlyrah: I love, love the apps. I guess I got addicted to the iPhone apps because I make sure to note what I eat just about everyday.

@cascademom: Thanks! When I was going they were still really big on the fruits and veggies and they were zero then too. It was more that they suggested dipping your strawberries in cool whip because it was low points or sprinkling melon with splenda that got me- But it could have just been the atmosphere at my center.
