How do you get your baby to sleep?! LO is 4 months and she's always either nursed to sleep or fallen asleep in the ergo. What is your nap routine like? Baby girl sleeps well - 2 3-hour naps and 2 catnaps before sleeping 9-7 with 1 MOTN feed - so I'm really afraid to change our routine but she can't do this forever. I also have a 20 month old running around so I can't always sit in a dark room and nurse for 20 minutes. TIA!
(LO is only 8 weeks so we don't have a great routine yet). I usually wait for sleepy cues and then put LO in her swing, swaddled, stick in a paci, and hope for the best. That works about 70% of the time. If that doesn't work sometimes I'll swaddle her and put her in her pack n play on the bassinet attachment and rock that by hand. Also sometimes if I stroke her forehead it puts her to sleep. It's sort of trial and error every day since she doesn't really like being rocked to sleep and nursing to sleep is not an option for me.
I don't know if this is a good idea or not because I haven't like... done a lot of reading or anything... but I"m going through something similar over food. Long story short, LO decided she hates bottles. But she has to take bottles bc I have a low supply. After days of fighting her and her not eating other than breastfeeding (which is only half of what she needs milk wise) we decided to stop breastfeeding all together. Force her to take a bottle bc she has no other option for food, and assume she'll get used to it. We're 2 days in and its already getting MUCH better. So I guess in your situation if you really don't want to nurse to sleep anymore... I'd maybe just not nurse to sleep anymore. If she gets tired enough, she will sleep. And it might be a rough few days or week trying to teach her other sleep associations, but I bet it wouldn't take as long as you'd think?
