Cramps and back pain from the start. Once it got bad it was pain all over my body from under my boobs down to my toes.

I was woken up with back pain (mostly lower back) that came at went (every 15-20 minutes or so). It would only last 30 seconds or so. As the day went on it the waves of pain started wrapping all the way around my lower back into my hips (but never my stomach/uterus. I never felt one contraction then) and slowly getting closer together. The pain didn't really intensify until that evening. They started at 7am, and by 11pm they were coming every 4 and a half minutes, lasting a minute each, for two hours. I went to the hospital, wasn't showing any dilation and was ultimately sent home.
When I got home they got even worse. I couldn't think around them, I couldn't breath around them. It felt like my lower back was being smashed with a hammer every few minutes, and it vibrated down to my toes.
I had two epidurals that ultimately failed, and as I was pushing the pain moved from my back solidly into my hips.

Both of my labors contained back labor. The last one started out normally, but as they got harder, thanks to the pitocin, they were all in my back.
It was pain from my tailbone that radiated up into my lumbar area. It was awful.

@FutureMrsMcK: I've had lower back pain for almost two days--coming and going. Now I've got it coming really low and wrapping around to my hips in more of a patrern. Sometimes I have a contraction and sometimes I get super crampy along with it. I was 50% effaced today and 3cm, so we will see where this is going. Definitely the most intense back pain I have felt so far though! Doesn't seem like a lot of fun. My doula mentioned that maybe baby was working on moving down lower.

My back labor started about 5 hours into active labor. Mostly the pain was radiating around my right hip, which felt like it was shattering.

Started with mild random cramping in front, back labor started about 12 hours later. They came between 4 and 10 minutes apart for over 48 hours, until I was started on pintocin (I only dilated to 4 cm that whole time) and an epi.
They would start in my back and wrap around, but remained most intense in my back. I had trouble breathing through them. Baby was posterior (but did turn before birth)

When my water broke I could feel my baby drop and turn and about 10-15 minutes later back labor came on strong and from there on out it was back labor and only back labor. I never felt contractions in the front, only in my lower back. They said it was because of my son's posterior position and he was brow out and crooked. They gave me an epidural to relax my body and try to turn him but it didn't work.
I wish I had done some of the positions before so I could have maybe coaxed him into a better position. Who knows if that would've worked either! My kid has been the opposite of everything I've read about from the start, lol

I was induced and by the time I was 2cm I was having back labor. DH and my mum spent 11 hours (my whole labor) putting counter-pressure on my back to try to give me some relief. I wasn't allowed an epidural because of a bleeding disorder so had to deal with it by breathing and having massage done. It was super intense and horrible and felt like I was going to break in 2.

My water broke. Contraction started literally right after. Back labor about an hour in. The most intense pain of my life!!!! I truly couldn't breathe and needed oxygen. My back labor was caused because he was sunny side up. Being kicked in the back a million times over!

I felt like I had to poop for about 12 hours. And I did. A lot. It was awful. AWFUL. I'm sorry if you're having back labor and just read that.
