When did you wake? When did you "meet" your LO? Did you have any issues with breastfeeding?
When did you wake? When did you "meet" your LO? Did you have any issues with breastfeeding?

I woke up in recovery after 2-3 hours I think. My husband was sitting next to me and LO was in a bassinet right next to the bed. As soon as the nurse thought I was steady enough, she stripped us down for skin to skin. We hung out like that for a while until I needed to be checked again and then my husband accompanied LO to the nursery for her heel pricks and things and I met them back in our actual room about an hour later. I don't know if it affected breastfeeding - she ended up in the NICU that night for a week because she was having a variety of issues (hence the emergency csection) and I think that had the biggest impact. I pumped endlessly but we never got the hang out the latch and frankly, with all of the other things going on, it didnt make it a priority.

To this day I have no idea how long after surgery I woke up!! My husband was in such a daze, he doesn't remember either. I think k I saw DS down in the NICU within 6ish hours after he was born, but again not positive. And that was because the nurse broke the rules and wheeled me down there in my bed! Not sure what the standard practice is. Luckily we had no issues breastfeeding. Took a while for milk to come in so he had a small amount to of formula but we went on to successfully BF.
Lots of hugs friend!! Wall me if you need ANYTHING

I woke up in the recovery room very shortly after- not more than an hour had past. DH was with a nurse and DD across the room. I'm not exactly sure what all they were doing because I was so sleepy. But when they saw I was awake DH brought her to me and after a few minutes the nurse asked if I wanted to try breastfeeding. So we had some skin to skin and she latched on immediately.
My only issue with breastfeeding was that it took 5 days for my milk to come in. No one told me it could take so long and DD lost a lot of weight. On the fourth day I supplemented with formula and she sucked it down (poor thing was so hungry!). I began pumping like crazy and my milk finally came in the next day. I never needed to supplement with formula after that and we breastfed with no further issues until she was 21 months.

@Somebunny: my milk came in late after my csections (with spinals) for LO 1 & 2.....nine and six days! I wonder if general will make a big difference!
