DS is almost 2 in a toddler bed, he goes to bed fine, but is in our bed as soon as he wakes up, usually before midnight. Not ideal.

My DD is 2.5 too and we have her in the ikea loft bed (the kura?I think) and we put stairs on it so she can climb up and down. One nap time, due came out like 6 times. It was terrible. My DH ended up getting an ok to wake clock on his way home from work that day. It's worked out really well! This morning, she did come out before her light turned on and I had to explain she couldnt come out until the green light comes on because green means go. She was not happy to go back into her room, and she cried for a few min, but then settled down and read books. It's been a lifesaver.

For 5 months after switching him to a floor bed, he didn't get out of bed. Then he got better at opening his door and we had a few nights of him getting up but it was inconsistent and not usually too early. We ordered an OK to wake clock. The clock can't right after his baby brother was born (at 27 months). He started getting out and really early too. We tried using the clock and being patient but it just kept getting worse. So we put a toddler cover on his doorknob. He learned how to open it in about 5 days. But then the summer humidity hit and his door got harder open. After a day or two realizing he couldn't get out his room, he's gone back to staying in be till we get him.

She's only been in a toddler bed for less than a week, but right now, she gets out to use the potty and then gets right back in. When she's wants to come out of her room, she tries to open the door. We used to just let her open it (when she was in a crib) but since changing to the toddler bed, I added a thing to make the door hard to open so now she sometimes can open it but it delays her a bit. Her room is right at the top of the stairs and is on a different floor than ours, which is the only reason I'd like for her to stay in there (it's pretty dark when she gets up and I don't want her falling on the stairs). But it's funny, she actually still stays in bed while trying to open the door (the way she used to when it was a crib).

We've spent the last few weeks sleep training him to stay in his new toddler bed. At some point every night he gets out of bed and goes back to sleep on the floor, and when he's done his nap he gets up and comes downstairs.
