I nurse in the AM, PM and overnight. During the day, she may drink 8oz of milk. I'd like to see her drink more but I figure that will come after she's done nursing. My lo just drinks from cups and my boobs (ha). We had to cut bottles completely at 1 year so she could transition to the 1's room and I don't do bottles at home if I'm with her. I THINK if she was still getting a bottle and it had cows milk in it, she would drink more cows milk.

We didn't introduce whole milk at 12 months because we were still breastfeeding a lot. Our pedi was fine with this. My boys have never really been fans of whole milk and getting them to drink it has always been a pain.

@hilsy85: Yes. I think she gets a little more in the morning, but I think it's definitely more of a boob session than a nursing session. I don't remember the last time she has finished all 3 bottles, but I still offer it because she is a spotty solids eater, and she is just so teeny that I worry about her weight (she's around the 10th percentile).

we start on wcm a couple weeks ago. she doesn't drink a lot at all, maybe 5 oz while i'm at work. i still nurse in the morning and when i get home and before bed. she does have a container of yogurt every day though, which i guess gets her up to around 9 oz or so, and she usually eats a big slice of cheese too. all pedi's are different, but when i called mine because i was concerned that she wasn't drinking enough milk, she said that "milk at this age is an accessory, not a necessity" and that LO was getting most of her nutrition from her solids. we go to tribeca pediatrics, so i imagine that they tell all their parents. so that made me feel better. she does eat a lot of solids at meal time.

@hilsy85: I would say maybe 2 oz with breakfast (I nursed them upon waking) Then a sippy with about 4oz of CM with morning snack and afternoon snack.

She nursed a lot. Honestly she wouldn't drink cows milk except for occasionally until 2 - all of a sudden she went from hating it to loving it. She ate lots of whole milk yogurt and cheese but still nursed a decent amount, especially between 12-18 months.

LO has never taken to drinking milk; she doesn't like it. At 12 months she was still nursing around 6 times a day, so it wasn't really needed IMO. She also gets yogurt and cheese. Now, at 17 months, she nurses a lot in the moring and a lot before bed. She gets water to drink the rest of the day. It's something that I am going to bring up at her 18m appt to see if she really should be getting more than that (or if cheese and yogurt are good enough).

@hilsy85: Around 2 we weaned. I did try pushing the milk, mixed it with honey and vanilla or chocolate sometimes. She'd drink it occasionally but even sweetened she really didn't want it or that much of it.

Lala never drank cows milk... She preferred water if she wasn't nursing. She weaned before her third birthday.

@hilsy85: nope! She had been milk protein intolerant, so I just assumed her body knew what it needed and what to avoid.
