...how long did you use it? LO is just sitting up well and I opened the one I received as a gift and I kind of hate it. It takes forever to put on and the sides are open so it doesn't totally cover the cart. I would definitely prefer to get one that has the elastic edges I could just pop on, but I'm not sure it would be worth the expense if in a month or two I'll just give up on it.

@Jennibenni: this is not exactly your question but I never used one and never felt like I was missing out. My LO is 6 months and sits fairly well but I just wear him in the carrier at the grocery store.
If you do opt for a new one, I see them a lot at second hand stores so that might be an option?

I stopped using /caring when DS was @ 15 months.

@MamaCate: I do wear him sometimes but he doesn't love the carrier so that works best on quick trips. Good idea to check secondhand!

I put my 7.5 month old in the cart, and I just put a blanket on her lap kind of over the bar where she could suck. If she comes in contact with a few germs, eh that's fine with me! It's bound to happen!

I used it when babies first started sitting up as extra cushion and then kept it in the car for rainy days. It's a life saver when every cart is wet and the kid needs to sit. Haha

I use my elastic side one for public high chairs!

We had one that was also a high chair cover. Restaurant high chairs are disgusting. We used it until she stopped putting everything in her mouth 24/7!

I'm a germaphob, so I still use it and Ds#2 turned two at the end of December.

I have one but have never used it. I usually just wipe down the cart with a wipe.

@Jennibenni: I think it's an infantino brand? It's fairly large and would just drap over although there are velcro closures.

We used it for a few months, maybe 6-9/10 months? DS was a late-ish teether so we used it until he started getting interested in other things than gnawing on the bars. I'm not a germaphobe so I could've lived without it, though. I had one with velcro closures.

I have one with elastic around the edges and we still use it with DD at 7.5 months (with no plan of stopping anytime soon). I suspect we'll use it until she quits putting absolutely everything in her mouth.

I just wipe a cart or highchair down with an alcohol wipe really well before I put her in. She's almost 12 months and I've been doing that for a few months

I used it during his first winter, but now he wants to walk in the store most of the time so on the rare occasions that he sits in the cart I just wipe it down.

I got ours from babysteals.com...they are on there all the time. Super easy to use and it stuffs into itself like a little bag with handles.

I used it twice and found it to be so much hassle, so I just started putting him straight into the cart and wiping everything within reaching distance down with a wipe.

I use ours when I remember to bring it into the store. DD is 15 mos.

Not very long. I started using it when DS was sitting up a bit and didn't like being contained in his car seat while in the shopping cart. So I would stuff the excess around him to hold him up. After he could securely sit up on his own, I quit using it. So maybe a couple months?
Same for high chairs.

DD will be 14 mo soon and we still use it!
